Kalaisan National High School is located amidst the green scenery of nature 180 meters away from the National Highway. The school was realized through the love of people who have great concern for education.
The school site which is 21, 000 square meters is donated by Mr. Antonio Po. The realization of the creation of an annex school of Kidapawan City National High School was made possible through Barangay Resolution No. 51 dated January 15, 1996 under the leadership of the late barangay Chairman Alfredo Daquis, Sr. which was presented and supported by the Department of Education. In 1995, the first two classroom were constructed to cater the first enrollees through the initiative of Congressman Gregorio Andolana using his countryside development Fund.
It was in June 1996, Mrs. Nieves B. Flores, a Master Teacher 1 from KCNHS, was appointed teacher In-charge to manage the newly created school. With her are competent and dedicated teachers, namely: Mr. Eugenio Ente, Jr., Ms. Susan B. Sacman and Mrs. Connie P. David. There were a total of 89 enrollees that were first catered.
A year after, the shortage of classroom became a problem due to the increasing number of enrollment. The barangay council extended help by constructing an emergency classroom made of bamboos and trapal as roofing. The long-dreamed school building with three classroom was constructed through the DepEd regular infrastructure program was realized in the same year. Parents’ Teachers and Community Association (now PTA) had also donated one classroom.
The first water facility was donated by Mr. Jaime Bungaos, a local resident, as his prize in winning the “ Bunong Braso Challenge” sponsored by La Tondena, Incorporated. The electricity supply was initiated and donated by Mr. Rodolfo Valdevieso, a retired supervisor of the Kidapawan City Division and COTELCO Board Director.
On November 7, 2003 Kalaisan National High School Annex had been separated from its mother unit with eleven permanent teachers and five Special Education Fund Teachers.
The administration, faculty and staff had been blessed with an Administration building through the aid of the late Honorable City Mayor Luis P. Malaluan, sharing his local fund for the construction. It accommodates now the principal and faculty office.
It was in the year 2008 when the school library was erected through the initiative of Congressman Gregorio Ipong. It is now use by the students for reference and research works. In the same year the SEDIP-funded Science Laboratory was put up. The students now can perform their science activities well in a modern and conducive place. Finally, after years of waiting, the Multi-Purpose Building, being funded by the Barangay LGU and the school’s PTA was completed. Various school program and activities were being held here.
On these days, KNHS students benefit with the use of 8 classrooms, Home Economics Building, Science Laboratory, School Clinic, Library, Computer Laboratory and other instructional rooms. With these facilities, learning and skills of the students are being enhanced and the ambiance provided them with comforts and cheers.
KNHS offers K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum for the sophomores. It continues to provide Basic Secondary Education Curriculum for the higher years. The school offers Open High School Program for those working students or those who could not attend regular schooling for some reasons. It also initiates the Effective Alternative Secondary Education (EASE) program for those regular students who for quite some time could not attend regular classes.
The school offers different programs to fill in the needs to improve its participation rate through increase in enrollment; the early enrollment campaign and the advocacy programs of the school through career guidance to its feather schools-the Kalaisan National High School, Junction Elementary School, Sumbac Elementary School and Datu Mileb Andagkit Memorial Elementary School. Students’ drop out have also been minimized through its Drop out Reduction Plan through its program components : Home Visitation, Daily Monitoring checklist of Attendance Scheme, Open High School Program ( OHSP) , Effective Alternative Secondary Education ( EASE) Program , Development Program for Sports and Arts and an array of Scholarship Programs: Children’s Education Welfare Assistance (CEWA)- an adopt-a-school program of the Notre Dame of Kidapawan College and a Japanese Grant Institution, LGU City Scholars, all free Para sa Top Three!, EstudyanteKo, Sagot! And the Bombeo Scholarship Program by City Councilor Jivy Roe C. Bombeo.
The Income Generating Project (IGP) of the school and two makeshift canteens, all of which run by private individuals paying their rent in daily basis.
The Parents’ Teachers Association (PTA) is very participative since the start of the school operation in 1996. The association is active in all activities and program implemented and conducted in school. Indeed, the PTA is the school’s partner on its educational endeavors creating a safe, performing, conducive and caring environment.
