JCCES HISTORY
The history of Taal Elementary School has passed from the oldest generation of the place and passed through generations up to the present. With their urge to attain education, Taaleños got their elementary education in Poblacion, the town proper of Pulilan. After a few years, there was an elementary school built in the neighboring barangay, Sto. Cristo. From then, the children of Taal found it more convenient to be enrolled in Sto. Cristo rather than in Poblacion.
Later on, the concerned citizens including the parents claimed to establish a school of their own sometime September 1956. The barangay chapel was first used as classroom and the first volunteered teacher was Miss Enriquez, followed by formerly Miss Trinidad Pagaduan now Mrs. Abacan. The Taaleños later agreed to build a school in “Kabyawan”, a location donated by Don Jose Castro.
By the year 1957, there was a pre-fabricated school building built with two classrooms thru Congressman Teodulo Natividad. The two pioneering teachers were Mrs. Trinidad Abacan and Mrs. Felisa R. Cruz. Later on, there were additional two classrooms with the help of Mayor Bienvenido Castillo. Other buildings were also through the courtesy of Mayor Antonio Reyes and Senator Pacita Madrigal during their terms. It was a primary school then with the following teachers: Mrs. Felisa R. Cruz as the Teacher Leader handling Grade IV, Mrs. Lydia Macaraeg as Grade III teacher and Mrs. Trinidad Abacan as Grade I teacher. Later on, Mrs. Felisa R. Cruz was succeeded by Mrs. Ofelia de Castro as the Teacher Leader, then by Miss Emerita Joson and Mrs. Teresa Santos. The school was a dream come true for the people of Taal in spite of just being a primary school.
Year 1993 it was turned to Intermediate School. The teachers being part of uplifting the quality of education in Taal were the following: Mrs. Lily Dimaano, Miss Luciana Constantino, Mrs. Lydia Macaraeg, Mrs. Aquilina Desiderio, and Mrs. Ofelia de Castro.
By the year 1994, it was intended to be a complete elementary school with its first Teacher-in-Charge Mrs. Divina J. Flores, then succeeded by Mrs. Rita G. Reyes, Mrs. Angelita De Castro, Mrs. Juanita T. Leonardo, Mrs. Revelyn L. Maniego, Miss Bernardita F. Bautista, Mr. Alex. N. Garcia, Mr. Antonio A. Banag Mrs. Ma. Cecilia J. Pascual and Mr. Leonilo M. Pascual
The school was blessed with many school buildings through Governor Roberto Pagdanganan, Vice Governor Josefina Dela Cruz, Congressman Teddy Natividad and Mayor Aurelio Plamenco during their terms.
The existing School Buildings are DECS, Marcos Type and FVR. At present, twelve classrooms are being used as instructional rooms to 454 pupils from kindergarten to grade six. Other rooms are being used as e-classroom, canteen, and administrative office.
In March, 2014, the school site was formally donated to the school by the kind-hearted family of the late Jose C. Castro to whom the present name of the school was named after.
In September 29, 2014, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) agreed to the recommendation of the Sangguniang Bayan of Pulilan upon the school’s petition to change the name of the school. At present, the school is known as “Jose C. Castro Elementary School”.
