GBLMIS acknowledges the importance of supplemental materials which can provide instructors a way to fill in perceived gaps within the prescribed instructional materials and can offer instructors additional approaches to motivate students. In addition, supplemental learning materials will give the students appropriate material according to their specific needs and interests and help retain information due to the fact that students' learning styles are taken into consideration.
Due to Covid-19 Pandemic, there has been a significant learning loss in Mathematics. The pandemic caused key learning gaps from prior knowledge to prevent mastery of more advanced concepts. The current Grade 9 students had their last face to face classes when they were in Grade 6. Thus, as a result most of the students seem to be losing the most ground in the subject. Most of the students do not have the mastery nor knowledge on the basic concepts in Algebra. Consequently, it would affect how they could fully comprehend and apply newly acquired and more advanced Mathematical concepts.
As educators, one must continue searching on what ways may help their students address the gaps and increase their interest in Mathematics. In line with this, the proponents proposed to have a project which aims to help struggling learners increase their level of understanding on the basic concepts of Algebra.
This project focuses in algebraic expressions, fundamental operations involving polynomials and factoring.
