Gattaran West Central School was originally named Gattaran west Central Community School. It was established during the American Regime. The school site is measuring 11,832 sq.m. and was occupied by the school through the help of Don Juan Talamayan, then the municipal president, buts its buildings were burned during the Second World war.
From gattaran Central Community School, the name was changed to Gattaran Central School. It was the biggest and the first complete elementary school in the western part of Gattaran catering to the needs of school children not only in Barangay Centro Sur and Centro Norte but also of the adjacent barangays. It was the seat of district office supervising all the schools for the whole municipality to the present . Later part of 1980's the school was burned by unknown source so Imelda Type Building was erected.
To facilitate the supervision of schools, Gattaran was divided into three districts namely Gattaran West, Gattaran Central and Gattaran East during the time of Mr. Romeo E. Castillejos as the Schools District Supervisor. The name Gattaran Central School was then changed to Gattaran West Central School being the center of Gattaran west District.
