Fortune High School was pioneered in response to the Resolution No. 092 series of 2007 whereas establishing a public secondary school, made possible through the initiative of the former City Mayor Hon. Marides C. Fernando. It served its purpose to cater the increasing rate of learner population in the Barangay Fortune and its neighboring towns.
In May 2007, through the efforts of the former Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Flordeliza R. Mayari with Dr. Wilfredo S. Jabal as its first OIC-Principal, the school was constructed in a One Thousand Seventy-Six Square Meters and Ten Decimeters vacant lot donated by the City Government of Marikina. Situated along Santan Street, the school was initially used as an Annex of Marikina Heights High School.
In School Year 2007-2008, Fortune High School formally actualized its first operation that primarily worked hand in hand with 17 Contractual Teachers to cater and teach 1,030 learners. Consequently, FHS has been selected as the Host School for the Classroom Observation attended by the former President of the Philippines, Hon. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on January 31, 2008.
Thereupon, in June 2008 the school was entrusted under the management of Dr. Lydia B. Timoteo, Principal III, who painstakingly processed the transfer of permanent teachers from Marikina Heights High School to Fortune High School. It soon fulfilled one of the requirements in becoming an Independent school. Successfully, it accomplished the attainment of its independence on August 12, 2008. Sequentially, transition of leadership has seasonably occurred in terms of school governance throughout the years from 2008 up to the present.
With the perseverance from the collective efforts of the School Heads and Faculty who have worked wholeheartedly on the progress, FHS started to cater programs in the Senior High School offering General Academic Strand and TVL (Bread and Pastry Production/Food and Beverages Service, and Beauty Care) for School Year 2017-2018 up to the present.
Fortune High School as founded as it was, proved that it was not just academically competent that engaged students innovatively in literacy and numeracy but also broaden their skills technically. This was proven when the school successfully represented its barangay and got its first recognition as the announced Champion during Rehiyon-Rehiyon Festival last 2009 organized by the City Government of Marikina.
Moreover, Fortune High School did not fail to manifest “Bayanihan” which served as one of the core essences of the Filipino cultures where the concept of the Brigada Eskwela has rooted. Brigada Eskwela or School Brigade, also known as the National Schools Maintenance Week had its roots in Republic Act 8525 which was enacted during the time of President Fidel V. Ramos. Proudly, Fortune High School has set place as one of the achievers in the Division of Marikina under Large Category. FHS was awarded as the “Best Brigada Eskwela Implementer” last 2009 in the said category and secured the 4TH Place as “Most Innovative Brigada Eskwela Implementer” last 2009 and 2019. Furthermore, the school was awarded as Sixth place for “Regional Search for Best Implementer of Brigada Eskwela 2019” for Mega Secondary School Category.
Recently, with the school’s undeniable persistence, the Division awarded FHS as the “Most Effective School” for Year 2020 where in the same year, one of the Teaching Personnel in the Grade 7 Level won as the Most Outstanding Teacher. Roaringly, with its very current achievement, the Fortune High School despite of the challenges and struggles happening due to pandemic has still able to confidently got its Safety Seal Certification on December 9, 2021 that gave affirmation that the school is compliant with the minimum public health standards set by the government.
With the help of School Administration, Faculty, Students and Stakeholders and the whole community of Barangay Fortune continuously striving and aiming for its best service for the community. Through its mantra “Fortune High! Soar High”
