CAPABILITY DEVELOPMENT ON RESEARCH EVALUATION AND RESEARCH DISSEMINATION

Malaybalay City (August 9, 2023) - The Research and Planning Section headed by Ms. Ria K. Alcuizar conducted capability development on research evaluation and dissemination on August 8 to 9, 2023 at Veranda, Casisang, Malaybalay City. The activity aims to enhance the evaluation and dissemination capability among research evaluators and research coordinators in the Division. 

CONTINGENCY PLANNING FOR EREID

Malaybalay City (August 4, 2023) - Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Office of this City conducted contingency planning for emerging and re-emerging diseases on August 1 to 4, 2023, at New Peoples Hall, Casisang, Malaybalay City. The event was attended by various members of the City DRRM Council including our division. 

Mr. Jimdandy S. Lucine, Division DRRM Coordinator, and Mr. Karl Lois C. Pagaran, Learners Formation Coordinator, attended the workshop to represent DepEd Division of Malaybalay City.

Contingency Plan is a very important plan in preparation for an identified hazard. For this workshop, the plan focuses on Influenza Like Illnesses (ILI) which includes COVID-19. What separates contingency plan from other plans is that it can be converted into a response action plan when the hazard that was planned for becomes a disaster.

DRRM and SHS Joint Culmination Program for Nutrition Month and National Disaster Resilience Month 

Malaybalay City (July 31, 2023) - Division DRRM Coordinator and School Health Section conducted a joint culmination activity for the Nutrition Month Celebration and observance of National Disaster Resilience Month. The activity started with a Fun Run around the wide premise of the Division Office and followed by a Zumba. Contests were also held and these were 2023 Mr. and Mr/s. Wow Body, Cooking Contest, Quiz Bee, and Digital Poster Making Contest.

The program ended with a short talk on Nutrition by Dr. Sarline Flores and awarding of winners.

Posting of Division Evacuation Plan

Malaybalay City (July 19, 2023) - To provide guidance to all employees and guests of the Division Office as to where to go and what to do in case of an emergency, the Division DRRM Coordinator posted the Division Evacuation Plans to various conspicuous places in the area.

EBEIS Validation

Malaybalay City (April 15, 2023) - EBEIS validation was conducted by the Division Office on April 11 - 14, 2023. This activity was spearheaded by the Planning Officer Novem Sescon. It aims to validate the data entered by the schools in the EBEIS website of the Department and these data includes Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.

2023 National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Mid-year Evaluation and Planning Workshop

Legazpi City (July 3, 2023) - DepEd Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service headed by Atty. Christian E. Rivero, EdD, Director IV, held the 2023 National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Mid-year Evaluation and Planning Workshop. During this event, the Division's DRRM Portal was recognized as a very important innovation that all divisions must have.

Assistance for Clean-up Activities were given to Flood-affected Schools

Malaybalay City (June 26, 2023) - Hon. Jay Warren R. Pabillaran, through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, extends assistance to schools that are severely affected by rain-induced flooding caused by the ITCZ. The assistance is in the form of cleanup materials.

Recipient schools are Managok CS, Isabela Ayala Gonzales ES, Bangcud NHS, San Martin-Sinanglanan ES, and Luyungan HS. These schools received broomsticks, mp sets, pails and dippers sets, gallons of Zonrox, and cans of wax. Bangcud NHS received 40kg of calcium hypochlorite.

Emergency Meeting for the Incident ITCZ that Affected the City

Malaybalay City (June 23, 2023) - Two days after the onslaught of ITCZ that resulted in rain-induced flooding, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council called for an emergency meeting to hear reports of the rapid damage assessment and needs analysis conducted by various agencies. The meeting was presided by Hon. Jay Warren R. Pabillaran who declared the city under a state of calamity to hasten the response efforts of the local government. During this meeting, the Division presented the status of the schools affected by the rain-induced flooding and its immediate needs.

Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis Conducted to the Flood-affected Schools in the Division

Malaybalay City (June 22, 2023) - The Division conducted a rapid damage assessment and needs analysis of all schools affected by the rain-induced flooding that happened on the eve of June 21, 2023.

Giving Technical Assistance to Schools that Qualified in the National GK

Malaybalay City (June 16, 2023) - The Division DRRM Coordinator provided technical assistance to the focal persons of Patpat Elementary School and San Martin Agro-industrial National High School which qualified in the national-level search for Gawad KALASAG under the special awards category for public elementary and secondary schools. These schools shall represent Region 10 in this prestigious awards in the field of DRRM in the country.

Regional GK Defense

Malaybalay City (May 26, 2023) - Patpat Elementary School and San Martin Agro-industrial National High School had their online presentation and defense for the Regional Search for Gawad KALASAG special award category for public schools. The panel was comprised of different members of the Regional DRRM Council. The winner in each category will represent Region 10 in the national search.

Division DRRM Plan in Preparation for El Niño was Presented to the PDRRMC Members

Malaybalay City (May 17, 2023) - The Provincial DRRM Council scheduled a meeting for May 17, 2023 at the Folk Arts Theatre in Malaybalay City in response to PAGASA's announcement that El Niño had begun to affect the nation. During the meeting, various member-agencies presented their plans to mitigate the effects of the natural phenomenon.

Reorientation on DepEd Order No. 53, s. 2023

Malaybalay City (May 16, 2023) - DRRMS called for a virtual national conference to clarify some issues in the implementation of DepEd Order No. 53, s. 2023 and provide information regarding Heat Index.

Online Peace and Security Orientation in Preparation for the RFOT

Malaybalay City (April 17, 2023) - The Division of Malaybalay City was chosen to host the Regional Festival of Talents (RFOT) this year. In order to ensure the safety of all participants coming from the different divisions of DepEd Region X, the Division conducted Peace and Security Orientation to all schools that will serve as billeting quarters via Google Meet.

2023 National DRRM Planning Conference

Quezon City (March 10, 2023). The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service conducted the 2023 National DRRM Planning Conference at the Great Eastern Hotel, Quezon City on March 7 - 9, 2023. During this event, the DRRMS Funds for FY 2023 were presented including the various fund allocations and guidelines for the implementation of DRRM and CCAM PPAs, Manila Bay Rehabilitation, Regional Climate Change Conference, Contingency Planning, and Public Service Continuity Plan. Atty. Christian E. Rivero was also introduced as the new Director for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service.

Participants in this activity are the Regional Directors, Schools Division Superintendents, Division Finance Officers, Regional DRRM Coordinators, and Division DRRM Coordinators.

Climate Change Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA) Adaptive Capacity Workshop

Malaybalay City (February 16, 2023) - Division DRRM Coordinator participated in the two-day Climate Change Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA) Adaptive Capacity Workshop hosted by the City Government of Malaybalay through the City Planning and Development Office. The workshop aims to identify the various programs that each partner-agencies in the city in order to adapt to the effects of climate change. The activity was conducted on February 8, 9, and 16 at the People's Hall.

SGOD TRAINING OF TRAINERS FOR CONTINGENCY PLANNING

Malaybalay City (January 12, 2023) - School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) had their three-day Training of Trainers for Contingency Planning. This activity aims to provide knowledge and skills to all personnel in the SGOD on writing contingency plans for various hazards. Through this, more personnel can assist the Division DRRM Coordinator in providing technical assistance to schools in making their own contingency plans.
