SCHOOL HISTORY
Don Pedro Rodriguez Elementary School was founded as early as 1950s, where classes were held in one of the houses of residents. On the record, it was on May 1962 that Grade 1 level was offered with Mrs. Dolores P. Pedroza as the teacher. In 1963, Grade 1 and 2 were opened for school children. In 1965, Grades 1, 2 and 3 were opened Mrs. Dolores P. Peroza, Miss Mercedes Versales and Mr. Manuel Pangilinan. In 1967, Mrs. Genesa Saliz added to the group of these teachers, replacing Mrs. Pedroza. It was in 1972 that the school completely opened from grades 1 to 6. On that time, there were 143 school children enrolled in the school. Before the school site covers 667 sq m and the school building covers .64 sq m only. The school building is semi-permanent in structure with 5 classrooms for all levels.
Now Don Pedro Rodriguez Elementary School has a land area of 6,279 sq.m. The land area was donated by certain stakeholders. It has 7 buildings with 12 rooms. 9 of which are utilized as classrooms. Other rooms are used as Home Economics, Office, guidance and ICT room. The school population this school year is 430.
At present, the school operates with one (1) school principal, one (1) Master Teacher II, and twelve (12) elementary teachers.
BARANGAY PROFILE
Barangay Don Pedro is an agricultural barangay located five (5) kilometers northwest of the City of Bogo, Cebu. It is topographically plain, mostly arable and well suited to agriculture. Farming, laborers in sugar plantation are the common source of income among the inhabitants in the barangay. It has a total land area of 519 5348.53 hectares, up to 80& of which is an agricultural land and is used for crop production, and 1% of which is rolling, steep and /or slopes. No irrigation is present in the barangay.
