HISTORY OF DEPED DANAO CITY

By: Rolando N. Lawas
Division of Danao City was created and started its operation in SY 1962 - 1963, a year after Danao became a chartered city. The first appointed superintendent of the Division was the late Mr. Leocadio Momongan.
When Mr. Momongan retired from office, the late Mr. Esteban Ypil – academic supervisor in English, assumed the office as OIC. Later, the late Mr. Catalino de Lana was appointed as the second Schools Division Superintendent.. Due to his retirement, the late Mr. Marcos Munez – academic supervisor in Social Studies, assumed the office as OIC until the late Mr. Simon Fernan was appointed as the third Schools Division Superintendent. Mr. Fernan served the office until SY 1972 – 1973.
After 10 years of operation, Division of Danao City was dissolved and was merged to Cebu Province Division, due to the number of teachers that could not met the DepED’s minimum requirement of 500, resulting to the deployment of its academic supervisors and personnel to the different offices in DepEd Region VII .
