Santiago City, December 17-18, 2023 – The Department of Education (DepED) Region 02 successfully hosted the MATATAG Curriculum Convergence Conference in Santiago City, featuring a consultative dialogue among key officials, including Gina O. Gonong, Undersecretary for Curriculum and Teaching, Alma Ruby Torio, Assistant Secretary, and Marielette Almayda, Assistant Secretary.
The conference, held over two days, aimed to synchronize efforts and strategies for the effective implementation of the MATATAG Curriculum, a critical initiative of the DepED. The curriculum seeks to fortify the educational foundation and foster holistic development among students.
Key activities included comprehensive discussions among DepED officials, focusing on curriculum enhancements, teaching methodologies, and strategies to address challenges encountered during implementation.
As part of the conference, the esteemed officials visited several implementing schools to gain firsthand insights. Notable schools in the spotlight were Lanna National High School, Cauayan North Central School, and General Emilio Aguilado National High School. The visitation included classroom observations and interactions with educators to better understand the on-the-ground dynamics of curriculum execution.
Additionally, focus group discussions were conducted at each school, allowing for a more in-depth exploration of the practical aspects and impact of the MATATAG Curriculum.
