Davao del Norte continues to elevate its commitment to inclusive education through a series of meaningful Special Needs Education (SNED) events, celebrations, and professional development activities. One of the flagship highlights for 2024 was the Division Festival of Special Needs Education (SNEd), held on April 25â26, 2024, at Sto. Tomas Central Elementary SchoolâSPED Center and Sto. Tomas National High School. The festival showcased learnersâ talents through events such as Filipino Sign Language Storytelling and Braille Reading, reflecting the divisionâs dedication to amplifying the capabilities of learners with disabilities.
These SNED celebrations not only offered a platform for learners but also engaged teachers, district coordinators, and school heads in organizing, judging, and supporting the activities. The divisionâs yearly SNED initiatives emphasize equal opportunity, accessibility, and community involvement, ensuring that programs adhere to DepEdâs vision of inclusive participation across diverse groups.
Beyond learnerâcentered events, Davao del Norte has also strengthened teacher capability through Webinar Series for SNED Teachers, particularly those focusing on Inclusive Education and Differentiated Instruction. A notable example is the Dayâ8 Webinar Series under NEAP, delivered on September 27, 2025, which trained teachers on adapting instruction for diverse learning needs, improving classroom strategies, and cultivating supportive learning environments. These webinars enable teachers to enhance professional competence and apply inclusive practices more effectively across schools in the province.
Together, these celebrations and capacityâbuilding activities embody the provinceâs ongoing mission: ensuring that every learnerâregardless of disabilityâreceives equitable, dignified, and quality education. Through festivals, trainings, and community-engaged events, Davao del Norte upholds SNED as a vibrant, compassionate, and forwardâlooking educational movement.
