GOALS TO KEEP!
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3:5-6
The Alternative Learning System - Senior High School (ALS - SHS) in the Philippines has a rich history of pioneering efforts aimed at providing quality education to individuals who may have missed out on formal schooling for various reasons. The ALS program traces its roots back to the 1970s when the Philippine government recognized the need to address the educational needs of out-of-school youth and adults.
In 2004, with the passing of the Enhanced Basic Education Act, the Department of Education (DepEd) of the Philippines formally institutionalized the Alternative Learning System to cater to learners who are unable to attend formal schooling. The ALS program aimed to provide flexible learning opportunities, equivalency to formal education, and empowerment for lifelong learning.
With the implementation of the K to 12 education reform in 2012, which introduced the Senior High School (SHS) program, ALS was integrated into the SHS framework to ensure that learners who completed the ALS program could transition smoothly to higher education or employment.
Fortunato F. Halili National Agricultural School has been at the forefront of implementing ALS - SHS initiatives in the Philippines. As a school dedicated to agricultural education, it has recognized the importance of providing alternative pathways for learners to access quality education, particularly in rural communities where formal schooling may be challenging to access.
Starting in the current school year, Fortunato F. Halili National Agricultural School has embarked on its ALS - SHS journey, aiming to provide innovative and inclusive educational opportunities for learners in its community. By integrating ALS into its SHS program, the school seeks to empower learners with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed for academic and personal success, while also promoting sustainable agricultural practices and community development.
Through its pioneering efforts in ALS - SHS education, Fortunato F. Halili National Agricultural School aims to make a meaningful impact on the lives of its learners, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive in an ever-changing world and contribute positively to their communities and society at large.
After graduation, ALS SHS graduates will emerge as empowered individuals equipped not only with academic knowledge but also with essential life skills, values, and a strong sense of resilience. They will become agents of positive change in their communities, capable of pursuing further education, engaging in meaningful employment, and contributing actively to societal development. Armed with a holistic education that emphasizes inclusivity and lifelong learning, ALS SHS graduates will be prepared to navigate diverse challenges and seize opportunities, thereby fulfilling their potential and making a lasting impact on the world around them.
