DEMHS HISTORY
On June 1994, marks the first operation of the school at the San Antonio Chapel owned by Señora Pita Escaño at Sitio Cantugot Brgy. Sab-ahan, Bais City, there were 44 boys and 60 girls for a total of 104 students who enrolled. The chapel served as the temporary classroom for students because the construction of the permanent school building was still going on. Ms. Suncherie D. Baldosano was the first teacher to be assigned on June to August 1994. She accompanied by Rogelio Cañolas, the TIC of Lonoy High School and Mario C. Andong, the Principal II of Bais City High School during the first day of enrollment. Their means of transportation at that time was only a city dump truck.
On August 1994, there was an addition of two locally funded teachers namely; Brenda Cu-id and Socratita Emperado.
In the year 1995, the first school building was completely constructed with two classrooms and the following year on 1996, there was another addition of two classroom buildings due to the increasing number of enrollees. The opening of extension high school in Sitio, Cantugot, Brgy. Sab-ahan, Bais City, is the second in Bais City, with Lonoy being the first. This project is being conceptualized and initiated to serve the elementary grade graduates in the hinterlands of the city of Bais.
Due to the generosity and kindness of Hon. Mariant Escaño-Villegas and Family, she donated some portion of her land with a total land area of 1 hectare. It was donated legally on March 28, 1994 and was attested by Dr. Carolino B. Mordeno, the Schools Division Superintendent of Negros Oriental, Estanislao P. Valencia Jr., Administrative Officer III and Mario C. Andong, Principal II of Bais City High School.
On March 1998, marks the first graduation of the pioneering batch of students with Mr. Anthony Cang served as the TIC during that time.
On October 19, 1999, there was a motion of Hon. Samuel Ferraren and duly seconded by Honorable members, Eduardo Concepcion, Miguel Real, and Yusseff Cesar Ybañez, the Body resolved to enact the City Ordinance No. 35 to rename BCHS-Cantugot Extension to Dodong Escaño Memorial High School per division memorandum Order No. III, dated October 19, 1999 and was unanimously approved by the body.
The school provides the community and their children with the essential education in the challenges of the new Millennium by addressing the needs of the students in the fast-changing demands of the society.
