STATE OF EDUCATION
Historically, Dampol 1st National High School, formerly Dampol Barangay High School, is the oldest school offering public secondary education (Junior High School as we call it now) in Plaridel, which started in July of 1972 with 47 students and a teacher that solely facilitated the teaching learning process at the same time managing the school. The school is now classified as a very large school based on the number of students enrolled.
It was June of 2016 when Dampol 1st National High School joined in pioneering the Senior High School with General Academic Strand as its initial offering. Sixty students enrolled which marked as the biggest enrolment in Plaridel, Bulacan. After a year, the school managed to have course offerings in Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM Strand), Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS Strand), Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM Strand), Home Economics (HE Strand), and Information and Communications Technology (ICT Strand). It has been in operation for five (5) decades. Several significant events have experienced. Dampol 1st National High School now has 46 JHS and 13 SHS competent and equally trained faculty members, 5 Administrative Staffs, 3 Contract of Services, and an enrollment of 1,171 students in Junior High and 324 students in Senior High.
The school is located in Dampol, Plaridel, Bulacan. The nearby barangays and towns have been the catchment area of the school such as barangay Sipat, Lumangbayan, Lagundi, Sto. Niño, and other barangays in town of Malolos City and Calumpit like Look, Lugam, and Bugion. Moreover, barangay Dampol is a small barangay with a low population and far from the municipality of Plaridel. However, this small barangay has its own elementary and secondary schools, as well as a church and a Rural Health Unit (RHU). With these establishments, the residents in this barangay have access to education and health care, leading in a medium socio-economic condition.
Dampol 1st National High School is an urban school surrounded by farmlands and far from commercial establishments. As of now, the school has 6 buildings. There are functional computer rooms, library, and Science and HE laboratories. It has also a covered court where the big events are held. The enrolment of the school is continuously rising, resulting to classroom shortage as well as number of teachers to meet the ideal ratio prescribed by the DepEd.
The school stands and determines to continue as growing institution despite of the pandemic. These legacies that we engrave to our students may serve as instruments of hope and inspiration, that we are one in our mission in educating the young who are still the future leaders of tomorrow.
The school year 2021-2022 had the most enrollees (1,602), while the school year 2018-2019 had the fewest (1,317). The records indicate that enrollment in the school increased during the peak of the COVID-19 virus. The learners who transferred from private to public school are the major factor behind this increase. Parents of these leaners may believe that enrolling their child in a private school is a waste of money because private schools provide the same modalities as public schools.
