DACUDAO NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

         Dacudao National High School was opened through the concerted effort of the Barangay officials spearheaded by Barangay Captain Morito B. Atay and the School Authorities. It is situated approximately thirty-two (32) kilometers away from the heart of the city amidst the vast banana plantation, coconut and other fruit trees.

        In summer 1994, the desire to help the Dacudaoans acquire the secondary education with ease and at a minimal cost motivated by Former Brgy. Captain Morito B. Atay and other Brgy. officials to write a letter of request for the Establishment of Public Secondary Education in Barangay Dacudao to Third District Congressman Elias B. Lopez who instructed them to draft a resolution pertaining to their request and address it to the Philippine Congress of which they acted upon. While the bill and address was still subject for readings, the barangay coordinated with Mr. Tomas N. Tico, General Roxas District In-charge to help in obtaining consent from Mr. Arnold P. Mollaneda, Schools Division Superintendent and through him, Mr. Mollaneda instructed Mr. Pablo N. Calla, Calinan National High School Principal, to open an annex High School at Dacudao, with whom the latter requested Mr. Tico to allot a portion of General Roxas Elementary School to be used for the secondary students. Mr. Tico generously shared their site for the construction of High School Buildings.

        In School Year 1994 - 1995, Calinan National High School – Dacudao Campus finally opened its doors for the first year and secondary year students. The Elementary Teachers accepted the enrolment for the secondary level and there were only 147 students consist of 90 freshmen and 57 sophomores. The Elementary Teachers temporarily hold and housed them at the three vacant rooms owned by GRCES. A few weeks after, Mr. Mollaneda deployed Three Female Teachers and after several months, an additional Male Teacher was Assigned.

         In summer 1995, the First Two-Classroom Building was constructed through the initiative of Late Congressman Elias B. Lopez to address the probable increase in the Number of Enrollees for the Succeeding School Year.

         At the Start of School Year 1995 – 1996, another Two Female Teachers were sent from Calinan National High School together with the first Officer In-charge Miss Teodula M. Verano to take charge of the administrative and instructional supervision of the School. In the mid of August of the same year, another Male Teacher was deployed to complete the eight mentors needed for the growing population.

         On December 2, 1996, marked the triumphant history of the school which was the reenactment of the Congressman Lopez House Bill. The Philippine Senate and the Congress finally put into Legislation the Republic Act 8270 duly approved by the Incumbent Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos which clearly stated and declared the separation of Calinan National High School – Dacudao Campus from its mother school Calinan National High School and shall be known as Dacudao National High School.

      During the S.Y. 1996 – 1997, the school offered four-year complete secondary education. Some classrooms from the GRCES were utilized to accommodate the increasing number of students.

           In the following years, more and more teachers were hired, additional classroom buildings were erected, some offices were built, and more facilities and equipment were acquired to serve the needs of the learners and to make their learning experiences worthwhile.

            In 2004, Dacudao National High School became the recipient of ten (10) computer units under the DTI Personal Computerization Program for Public Schools, Computer classes were introduced to students in the third and fourth year levels.

            In June 2007, Mr. Johnito O. Galan, Principal I, succeeded Miss Teodula M. Verano, Head Teacher V, who retired in May 2007. Throughout his term, he revived the value of cleanliness and beautification. He instilled the “Magalang Bow” and his favorite maxim “Today, I am proud of DNHS, Tomorrow, DNHS will be Proud of Me”. This time Gilas awarded the school a Free Internet Connection for one year plus computer units making them twenty (20). Computer lessons and internet researching were already available to the lower years as part of their TLE classes. Make-shift Science Laboratory was also constructed with the help of Josefa Segovia Foundation.

          In August 10, 2009, Mr. Nelson L. Fabiosa, School Head from Buda National High School, replaced Mr. Johnito O. Galan, who transferred to Sto. Niño National High School. Various and noteworthy changes continue to occur during this time. Ten classrooms were already owned by DNHS one of which is used as computer laboratory. There are seventeen (17) proficient and committed Teachers, five of whom are detailed from Calinan NHS to work jointly for the attainment of the School’s Vision, Mission and Goals. From 147 Students from its first year of existence, it had reached up to 520 students. From its establishments, the school has received tremendous awards and achievements both in academic and extra-curricular activities.

           The School adopted the Secondary Education Curriculum for the First Year Level using UbD approach and Basic Education Curriculum for the higher year levels. It caters the adjacent and outlying communities of Dacudao, Sitio Monteverde, Lacson, Dominga, Lorenzo, Pangyan, Dalagdag and Quiabaton. Farming is the main source of living of the people in the Community. Some people are engaged in animal husbandry such as poultry and livestock raising while some of them are working as laborers on the neighboring companies, and the rest are employed and indulged in Government Agencies or in small scale business.

          Last June 2012, Dacudao National High School opened its extension campus, as requested by the community, in Barangay Dalagdag, Calinan, Davao City. Mr. Nelson L. Fabiosa, school head, send Mrs. Harriette B. Roseos, Teacher III and a Principals’ Exam passer, to be the Campus Officer In-Charge in June 2012-2013. When Mr. Fabiosa transferred to other school last June, 2014, Mr. Rodrigo J. Cayanong, replaced him. But he only served the school for less than three (3) months, passing the responsibility to Mr. Reynaldo M. Acebu, a detailed Principal II from Tagakpan National High School.  In June 2017-June 2018, Mrs. Mary Ann B. Ongcoy served in Dacudao National High School as Assistant Principal II for Senior High School. In Dalagdag National High School, young, energetic and proactive School Heads has served its clientele in the person of Mr. Clinton V. Deocareza, SST I (Teacher In-charge, February 2013-June 2016). Mr. Jose Ramil Dupa, School In-Charge served from June 2016 to June 2017. Mr. Ronnie Chris J. Gadgude, SST I, Teacher In-charge, July 2017-December 22, 2021. Mr. Edwin Cantoja, Shool Head of Dalagdag National High School from December 23, 2021 to February 2023. At present he was replaced by the newly appointed Head Teacher II, Mr. Clinton V. Deocareza. Due to the transfer of station of Mr. Reynaldo M. Acebu, Principal III to Marilog National High School, Mrs. Virginia E. Penales, Principal III replaced him as School Principal from July 1, 2020 to present.

         Dacudao NHS has been blessed with educators who are expert in their field of specialization, they are experienced and multi-faceted teachers, updated to the new strategies/trends of teaching. Some educators of this school are NCII holders, some had been industry practitioners. Majority of the teachers are earning units in master’s degree in relation to their field of specialization. Furthermore, Dacudao National High School has started its operation as an Implementing Unit School last January 2018.
