School Narrative Profile
In making an uphill climb don’t take backward step so goes a Chinese proverb. The former Guisijan Barangay High School now Col. Ruperto Abellon National School did just like that.
CRANS humble beginning is worth recalling. It started with yet barely structure insight and with no definite school site. Anchored on its lofty vision to provide educational advancement to the people of the community, the Barangay Council and civic spirited citizens of Guisijan established a humble school on 1967 thus, Guisijan Barangay High School. Driven by the burning desire to have an academic institution to prepare the children for the college education, group of Guisijanons stood up and donated 3.33 hectares of land to be the school site. Men and women came in shifts with their materials and tools all ready to dig the soil so that the post may stand the walls and roofs erected.
Almost two decades after its birthing date, the school was converted into its new name Col. Ruperto Abellon National School in the year 1985 thru the enactment of Batas Pambansa Blg. 888 sponsored by Assemblyman Arturo Pacificador.
Presently, the school, as it is located in the central part of the province, is the biggest among the three secondary schools in the Municipality of Laua-an. Its population is a mixture of students coming from the feeder barangays of the Municipality and some barangays of two neighboring municipalities of Barbaza, and Bugasong. Majority of the students come from poor families but it is inspiring and encouraging to note that the graduation rate does not fall below 95% and 0% drop out rate. CRANS has 6 buildings, three double storey and three one storey building which houses 29 classrooms. Other structures are the school clinic, the home economics building, three school canteens, ten comfort room; five for male and female, two covered gymnasium; one with basketball ring, school library and an administration building.
The school has 1:45 teacher-student ratio. A Principal II administers the school, four administrative staff, two support personnel and 59 teachers (classified as one Head Teacher III, one Master Teacher II, Two Master Teacher I, one Teacher III, 26 teacher II and 28 Teacher I.
All through the years, Col. Ruperto Abellon National School has been administered by the dynamic, efficient and outstanding administrators who have been pillars in making CRANS what it is today. CRANS had earned titles that people associated with her can be proud of. Among them, Division Mother School and Most Effective High School, two years Regional Entry to National Search for Best Implementer of Anti-Drug and just recently Third and Second Placer best Implementer of Eskwela, Big School Category, Division Outstanding High School ( medium school category).
For 48 years, the Col. Ruperto Abellon National School did not rest on its laurels. It keeps on climbing in the hills of academe along with the torch of excellence and the banner where its battle cry reads; we commit, we perform, we will succeed.
