HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
In the Southern part of Negros Oriental, 3rd Congressional District, Bayawan City, Sitio Cadal-ugan, Barangay NARRA emerged a small size school in the Schools Division of Bayawan City, Cadal - gan Elementary School. It has 98 enrolled learners (52 male and 46 female) in school year 2025-2026 and there were 9 teachers including the School Head, 1 COS and 1 Utility Worker (2 male and 9 female) with 109 total population of learners, teachers and staff.
Mr. Domingo Maglinte a resident of Sitio Cadal-ugan donated a parcel of land with an area of 10,000 square meters. Through the initiative of the people living in Sitio Cadal-ugan they constructed a temporary building made of light materials to cater the needs of the children for proper education in Sitio Cadal-ugan. Later on a permanent one storey two classroom building was constructed coming from the national government. At present the school has already three permanent buildings to cater all grade levels from Kinder to Grade six.
Cadal-ugan Elementary School was located at the center of a sugarcane plantation with a distance of four (4) kilometres from the national highway of Sitio Bolbog, Narra, Bayawan City with existing rough road passable only by motorized vehicles during dry season. During rainy season, the road is not easily passable by any motorized vehicles because off its land eature when wet it id slippery and muddy That is why the name Cadal-ugan is taken from the term “Kadanlug” by the folks living in the place long time ago.
There is no major river, mountain and fault line that give treats to the pupils and school personnel in terms of flash flood, landslide and earthquake because the school is situated on a higher level of the ground Only treat to the pupils while coming in to school and going home are falling objects coming from big trees on their way due to heavy rain and protruding rocks on the ground that may cause injury to their feet and other parts of their body.
The major source of income of the people living in Sitio Cadal-ugan are sugarcane, coffee, corn and coconut with some are engaged in rice, vegetables, cassava and banana production. The Sitio belong to a low income place of the barangay and majority of the pupils are recipient of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4 P’s).
