The Establishment of Bidduang National High School was a faint idea toyed by some teachers of Bidduang who have children graduating from the elementary schools. The idea grew big when Mr. Roman Galzote, the District Supervisor of Pamplona was about to retire when he informed us of the possibility of opening a barangay high school which he could not do so because of the presence of a private high school in Centro. Later, he was transferred to Sanchez Mira. As Principal and In-Charge of the District, I had the chance to look into the feasibility of organizing one. I requested the barangay captains of Bidduang, Balingit, and Allasitan to talk about the matter with two active teachers, Mr. Benjamin de Guzman and Mr. Peregrino Ripani who submitted to me the list of graduates of elementary schools in the three barangays.
Martial Law came and Miss Marina Acantilado was assigned to Pamplona as District Supervisor, I went to Bidduang to head the school as Principal, I then requested the barangay captains to come up with a list of pupils with the signatures of parents who would send their children to school. Interestingly enough, even parents of other students in other schools signed up in the petition so that the holding of first and second-year classes were studied before I personally submitted it to Mr. Peregrino Alan, who was then the Division Supervisor in-charge of Secondary Schools of the Division.
The barangay captains who requested for a high school were: Mr. Julian Tolentino of Bidduang; Mr. Efifanio Pesca of Balingit and Mrs. Leonora Yague of Allasitan; They were briefed and aided by Mr. Benjamin de Guzman, Mr. Peregrino Ripani and other active teachers in the community.
When the real work of planning and petitioning was made, two barangay leaders came to the fore. They were Mr. Dionisio Burgos and Mrs. Rosete delos Angeles acting Barangay Captains of Bidduang and Allasitan respectively. These two were most active and responsible in soliciting the signatures of parents who wanted to have a high school and had children to enroll.
Before the opening of classes that year, the authorization to open the school was given to me by Mr. Alan, I immediately looked for teachers who would become pioneer teachers of the school.
I came up with two dynamic, very capable teachers; Miss Leticia Aguite and Mr. Ruben Ranjo. Miss Aguite was assigned treasurer in addition to her duties as classroom teacher .She made the program of classes while erolling students. Mr. Ranjo ably assisted Miss Aguite in all aspects of the work and was the second year teacher. I provided them the classrooms which were then available, books needed and other reference materials. And now the first school year of Bidduang Barangay High School was on smooth sailing, navigated by these able teachers as the three charter its course though unknown waters.
In the school’s second year of existence, a third teacher, Mrs. Norma Santos was added to teach the third year students. She was very capable and the three of them made up very strong team that led the school for further progress and success. As enrolment of both the high school and elementary schools increased, I have to make the classrooms needed available. The organized Parent Teacher Association (PTA) constructed the buildings needed. Also other teachers were needed to teach the special subjects and teachers were hired as needed. Mrs. Tolentino, Mrs. Irona, Mr. Yabes, Miss Guillermo, Mr. Bumatay came and went but Mrs. Yolanda M. Pascual, a commerce graduate with education units stayed for I assigned her to take over the work of Miss Aguite,Teacher In-Charge of the high school program.
Even in its third year, the school was a success and that year witnessed the first graduation commencement exercises, made famous by its CAT pass-in-review, while the management rested in its new leaders.
On June 10, 1987, the Bidduang Barangay High School, became one of the Newly Nationalized High Schools under Presidential Decree No. 189, placing all Public Secondary Schools under the administrative supervision and control of the Department of Education Culture and Sports (DECS).
Newly hired administrators were then appointed in which Mrs. Yolanda M. Pascual became the first and longest administrator from 1984-2011.
After the retirement of Mrs. Pascual, Mrs. Venus de Guzman became the Officer In-Charge in 2011-2012.
With the implementation of the K-12, the following headed the school; Reynaldo Guillermo- September to October 2012, Gerry Goze -November 2012 to July 2013, Dante Adviento – July 2013 to August 2014. ASDS Leila P. Areola took-charge of the school in a few months from July to September 2014.
Redante B. Mariano took over as Principal in September 2014 to August 2016, Rogelio Sadama Jr. became the Teacher-In-Charge from August 2016 to July 2018. When Dr. Sadama Jr. left the school, Maristela S. Canonizado, Head Teacher III was designated Officer In-Charge until Mr. Redante B. Mariano returned as School Head from September 2018 up to the present.
