School Brief History
Biao National High School was organized in 1968 when the late Carmelo Porras was the City Mayor of Davao City. All the barangay schools in the City of Davao were considered annexes to the mother school of the City. Davao City National High School. This was the reason why administrators of barangay schools from 1988 to 1981 had the designation of Asst. Principals because there was only one principal which was the administrator of the mother school.
In 1968, Mrs. Mamon van designated Asst. Principal of Biao Barangay High School. She had 10 teachers with the first building constructed in 1968, in the present site, composed of three classrooms. The second building was constructed as the Home Economics building of the school. During the term of the second administrator, Mr. Isidoro Macabitas. The 3rd building was constructed in 1978-79, under the management of Mr. Atilano B. Bompat as the 3rd Aast. Principal of the school. The building added 3 more classrooms to the school.
In 1980-81, during the term of Hrs. Herminis Barres, the 4th Asst. Principal, a school canteen was constructed. When Mrs. Anita L. Estrada became the 5th Asst. Principal, another building with 3 classrooms was constructed, giving the school a total of 9 classrooms, for 10 teachers and 282 promoted students from first to fourth year.
In 1981-82, Mrs. Victorina B. Jacinto became the 6th Administrator of the school. She had a designation of OIC until the SY 1984-85 when she obtained the item of Secondary School Head Teacher II. This time all barangay’s schools became national schools. The funds for teachers salaries were given by the national governments. From this time the school became known as Biao National High School. When Mrs. Jacinto became Secondary School Head Teacher II, she constructed the school stage, worth P 10,000.00. The school CLRC constructed by the PTCA was also constructed (collapsed already). When Mrs. Jacinto became Head Teacher III In 1989-90, another building was constructed by the PTCA which became the CAT/BSP office now. In 1992-93, a building for 2 comfort rooms was donated through Councilor Orcullo. And during her last term as Head Teacher III in 1993-94, another building composed of two rooms was constructed. This room is being used as the library and faculty room for Biao National High School.
In 1994-95, Mr. Rolando C. Jacinto with a designation as OIC, became the 7th Administrator of the school. A year after, in 1995-96, Mr. Rudy C.Palomaria from Buda National High School and Marilog High School of Agriculture, was assigned as the 8th Administrator of the school. In the same year, a building with two classrooms was constructed, with an approximate cost of P490,400.00. Mr. Palomaria has a designation of Secondary School Ilead Teacher III. After a year, when Hr. Palomaria assumed his office in Biao National High School, a School GYM constructed from the CDF of the late Congressman Elias B. Lopes, through the Barangay Captain of Biao Escuela, Homes F. Lao.
In the 3rd year of his term as lead Teacher III of Hiso National High School, a 2 classroom, 2-storey building was constructed in Biao National High School. This building is used as a classroom and office of the Head Teacher. In 1999-2000, the Davao Union Cement Company (DUCC) donated a building for students and faculty comfort rooms. The building has dia- tinct exclusive rooms for both students and teachers (separate for boys & girls). The building is worth P80,000.00 and is expected to be completed in October, 2000.
