Biak na Bato Elementary School began as a dream, the dream of a few people in the community who envisioned a place where children in their barangay could grow and learn. It was established in 1975 under name of the Barangay itself and with the help and supervision of the late Marcelino Bautista who was the Barangay Captain during that time. The School was located in the remote area of Biak na Bato, San Miguel, Bulacan. It was built because of the “Bayanihan” of the people in the community.
During that time, only few children goes to school because of poverty, others need to help their parents on field works, others need to take care for their younger siblings, while others need to walk barefoot for how many minutes just to reach the school. And the school only catered grade one to grade 4, because of the lack of classrooms, teachers and other facilities for learning.
After a decade, the roads from the town to the barangays were renovated, people started to generate source of electricity, the school started to outgrew its facilities, and with the kind heart of Claro B. Santos who donated additional land for the expansion of the school. Since then, the school’s dynamic educational environment has continued to evolve, on 2004, Biak na Bato Elementary School was renovated and it started to cater all levels from grade one up to grade six. The mindset also of the people in the community towards education continued to change, the number of the enrollees year after year was increasing.
Today, the school campus sits on 5000 sq meters and already has 11 classroom, 12 teachers and 339 students from Kindergarten to Grade VI. Through the passing of years, Biak na Bato Elementary School has been working towards its goal and values a strong commitment to a school improvement process that keeps student learning.
