Significantly, in 1971, it has come to our grasp the unprecedented opportunity for the youth with the creation of barangay high schools.
Through the efforts of by the Barangay Captain Dominador Custodio, and the barrio populace, Bendita Barangay High School was established. During the same year, the school began its mission of delivering education for the young boys and girls of parents who could not afford to send them to the only secondary school in town which happens to be a managed by a private individual. A five-room makeshift building was constructed within the site of Urdaneta II Barrio School now Bendita Elementary School. Its operation started with 132 enrollees from first year to third year and three pioneer teachers namely Julia L. Gonzales, Gloria V. Antazo, and Aniceta B. Mojica. It was initially administered by an Assistant Principal whom at the same time serves as the principal of the elementary school where the barangay high school is located. The teachers, regardless of their majors and minors did their best to equip the students with essential knowledge and skills for meeting the challenges of everyday life.
But came 1986, the whole academe including the whole community were alarmed by the news of closing barangay high schools if the school could not situate on its own site. Bothered by this problem, the school personnel, barangay and PTA officials as well as civic-minded people in the community moved as one and luckily, a 2,980 sq. m. owned by a certain Mariano Hierco was acquired on an installment basis wherein the payment of which were deducted from the salaries of teachers numbering 16 by that time. But the big problem still lies ahead. Barangay high schools were self-supporting and the inability to have its own building serves as a threat to its existence. Out of despair, students and teachers traversed the mountains for the materials to construct at least a building to house its students. But materials alone had nothing to do to completely solve the problem. Financial allocations were still the utmost priority to continue the school’s existence. At the own risk of its school personnel, they resorted to mortgage the real properties of Sp. Ambrocio and Crispina Ikan and sp. Valeriano and Feliciana Perfiñan to the Rural Bank of Maragondon to support the construction of the first building of Bendita National High School.
Happy as we were when the most crucial chapter of our school was finally settled. The sight of inevitable progress of Bendita Barangay High School has come our way with the implementation of Executive Order 189, placing all Barangay High Schools under the strict supervision of Department of Education, Culture and Sports. The nationalization of said barangay high school added impetus to the noble desire of everybody. In the light of all odds, there came another blessing, it is when Bendita National High School were granted 3.2 million package of building – a foreign assisted project under the Secondary Education Development Program (SEDP). The realization of which was through the unrelenting support of a great woman, Mrs. Constancia I. Nazareno, a former principal of Bucal National High School.
This brief yet rich history of Bendita National High School serves as a proof that the school built on the collaborative efforts of its stakeholders will continue to uphold to the utmost degree the interest of its clienteles.
As the school continues to uphold the rights of its its clienteles and extend its services in any way possible, this page will serve as the school's avenue for its stakeholders to express almost everything about the school. I have included the history. One might say that its quite irrelevant. But i just want to show how much this school have been valued and values the community where it situates and this page serves as one of those forms.
