Once upon a time, this place is blessed with trees, small and big. Folks from nearby barangays came to this place to pasture their carabaos and cows because of the tall grasses which served as the lone foods of their agricultural animals then.
One day, when these men got tired and hungry, they looked for a place to rest in. They found themselves sitting on a big tree. They were amazed because the tree looked different from the other tree. It happened that on that moment, an old man who was from the place passed by. They approached the man and asked for the name of the tree. The man said "ANDARAYAN" From then on, folks from the place named the place ANDARAYAN since its only in this place where they saw such kind of tree .
However, DENR at present has confirmed that the tree is actually called DITA tree. It was in the year 1980 when the population grew bigger. This is the reason why Andarayan was divided into 2; Andarayan North and Andarayan South.
