TRAINING ON THE REVISED ALS K TO 10 CURRICULUM:
TRAINING ON THE REVISED ALS K TO 10 CURRICULUM:
STRENGTHENING ALS INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICE
The Alternative Learning System (ALS) in the Philippines has long been a vital component of the country's education system, providing a second-chance education for out-of-school youth and adults who are unable to access formal education. With the enactment of Republic Act No. 11510, also known as the "Alternative Learning System Act," the government reaffirmed its commitment to making education accessible, inclusive, and equitable for marginalized and disadvantaged learners. This law institutionalized ALS, mandating the development and implementation of a standards-based and learner-centered curriculum to ensure the quality and relevance of alternative education in achieving lifelong learning.
In line with this, the Department of Education (DepEd) has revised the ALS K to 10 Curriculum to better align it with the national K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum and address the evolving needs of learners. Crucial to the effective and standardized rollout of the revised ALS K to 10 Curriculum are the ALS implementers equipped with essential knowledge and practical skills and strategies, hence the development of the training resource package, a collaborative initiative of the Bureau of Alternative Education (BAE) and National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP).
In line with efforts to ensure efficiency and targeted capability-building of ALS teachers for effective instruction, NEAP, in collaboration with BAE, shall lead a training resource package refinement and finalization workshop. This initiative mainly aims to simplify and refocus the revised ALS K to 10 Curriculum training objectives and content, along with the accompanying training resource materials.

simplify and refocus the training objectives, session content, and sequence, aligned with the Revised ALS K to 10 Curriculum and the needs of ALS teachers; and
refine the training resource materials for coherence, relevance, and practicality for a 3-day training, with clear focus on essential competencies and instructional strategies.
