Amulung East Central School is situated in the Poblacion, fifty (50) meters away from the Maharlika Highway, and a hundred meters away from the Municipal Hall. It is situated in the eastern part of Amulung on a hilly place where eastern part is eroding as one of its top concerns.
It was established in 1929, the oldest school in the municipality that caters to nearby barangays with a lot area of 2.88 hectares. It has a Gabaldon Building which is a heritage building, a proof of its old existence. It was then called Amulung Central School.
In 1982, Amulung was divided into two (2) districts, the Amulung East and Amulung West. Amulung Central School was then renamed, Amulung East Central School.
At first, Amulung East Central School has a big population with Anquiray, Babayuan, Gangauan, Marobbob, Magogod and Dadda as feeder barangays. But with the birth of Education for All (EFA), a government program which requires a school in every barangay, schools in the feeder barangays were opened one after the other causing a significant decrease in enrolment and eventually a decrease in the number of teachers. Excess teachers were transferred to schools that need their services.
