Sto. Niño National High School, Iti Sirib isu ti Bileg
By virtue of an Executive Order 189 dated July 1, 1987, the first public secondary school at Sto. Niño was conceived and the Cagayan National High School opened its annex in the municipality of Sto. Niño in 1989 and was named Cagayan National High School- Sto. Niño Annex. Three (3) teachers from the mother school were detailed to teach 89 first year students and had stayed at Sto. Niño Central Elementary School. Some elementary teachers were also given teaching loads in high school. The Municipal Mayor, ,Hon.Jose“Pecos”Carodan, started constructing school building at Palusao, Sto. Niño for the high school to stay the following year but it didn’t prosper because of the presence of the New People’s Army in the place.
In July 29, 1992, a parcel of lot located at the Eastern part of Sto. Niño Central Elementary School with an area of twenty-one thousand square meters (21,000 sq. m) was donated through the representation of Madam Cellie T. Bunagan, Schools Division Superintendent of the Division of Cagayan as the Donor and Madam Leila Areola Dacanay, who was the Teacher-in-Charge of the Sto. Niño High School as the Donee. From then on, the school was separated from Cagayan National High School and construction of school buildings started. An SEDP building with five (5) academic classrooms, one (1) Principal’s office was constructed and finished in 1993. In September, 1993 all the buildings were officially occupied by the Sto. Niño High School.
As the only public secondary school in the municipality, the school gained the full support of the Municipal Officials and the whole Sto. Niño community. This school caters the need for secondary schooling of the thirty (31) barangays of this municipality. School buildings were donated by private institutions and four (4) academic classrooms were funded by the Local Government of Sto. Niño.
