History

Dalaoig Elementary School Catarauan Annex was established in 1998 during the administration of Atty. Alvaro Antonio, as the Municipal Mayor of Alcala, Cagayan. It was inaugurated on June 28, 1998, with its former name Dalaoig Elementary School Annex. The school was opened with a two-room building for Grades 1 and 2 classes. That time, it has a land area of 641 square meters.

The school is located in Sitio Catarauan, Dalaoig, Alcala, Cagayan which caters pupils from the northern part of the barangay. Since its opening, the school’s educational environment has continued to evolve. Soon after the school began, words started to spread that residents of nearby sitios came to enroll so, its enrollment has gradually increased thereafter.

In year 2010, Grade 3 was opened. Since the school has limited space, the teaching staff and the Barangay Officials including the PTCA officers, requested the lot donor to give additional portion to meet the needs of its growing population. Their request was granted and now the total land area of the school is 857 square meters.

Its growing population encouraged the DepEd to give additional grade level until it became complete elementary grade level from kindergarten to Grade 6 which changed its name from Dalaoig Elementary School Annex to Dalaoig Elementary School Catarauan Annex.

Its wider backyard provided for the school garden, mini nursery, herbary and flower boxes which served as their laboratory areas for technology and livelihood education, science and across learning areas.

Instruction evolved from the very traditional method of teaching to the accommodation of ICT-based instruction which is possibly achieved for almost its classrooms are provided with LED TV where lessons are displayed specially in the higher grade levels.

Learners are given opportunities to explore more their knowledge and skills through their varied learning activities they experience day in and day out.

DESCA has garnered awards and recognitions initiated by the DepEd and Local Government Unit of Alcala. Pupils also performed in initiated activities.

The teaching staff of DESCA continue to personally and professionally equip themselves of the new trends of teaching and learning skills for the 21st century learners.
