HISTORY OF BARANGAY MALASIN &
THE SCHOOL- (MALASIN ES)
According to one of the elders, Rosendo P. Asuncion, Barangay Malasin was established and separated from territory of Brgy. Carikkikan in 1942 under the leadership of Kapitan Del Barrio Berning Gozum,. It was believed that people from nearby provinces like Ilocos, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija and also from Hacienda San Antonio of Ilagan, were the first people who settled in the community.
The name Malasin came from Iloko word “Ilasin” which means to separate from another. In addition, according to folklore Barangay Malasin got its name from the word ‘’MALAS’’ which means bad luck , then added the word ‘’ILASIN’’ became MALASIN.
During its earliest years, Brgy. Malasin has 3 puroks namely Sitio Angheles, Cainyugan and Malasin (Centro). Through the vast number of people living in the community, it became 7 puroks now. As part of giving thanks to the Lord for making the land fruitful, Brgy. Malasin celebrated its patronal fiesta every December 7-8.
