OK sa DepEd focuses on the five major school health programs of the Department: School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP); National Drug Education (NDEP); Adolescent Reproductive Health Education (ARH); Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) in Schools (WinS) Program; and medical, nursing, and dental services.
The SBFP aims to address hunger and encourage learners to enroll; it contribute to the improvement of their nutritional status; provide nourishment for their growth and development; and help boost their immune system, and enhance health and nutrition, values and behaviour of the learners.
To ensure the maintenance of good oral health among learners and personnel, the Department of Education (DepED) released DepEd Order No. 041 or the Guidelines on the Implementation of School Dental Health Care Program (SDHCP), including Medical and Nursing Services for School Year 2020-2021.
The program aims to provide access to health services among learners and DepEd personnel who need preventive and curative services, including immediate dental and medical emergency care in schools by establishing fully functional clinics. So the SDHCP will provide learners in public schools and DepEd personnel the following: a) Distribute of health care supplies; which include toothpaste, toothbrush, and soap to all Kinder to Grade 6 learners; b) Application of flouride varnish to all Kinder and Grade 3, prioritizing all Kinder entrants, if applicable.
Ever heard the popular saying "Health is wealth"? This gives large meaning to our life, as health is considered the most valuable and precious for every individual. Good health means not only the absence of disease in the body but a complete physical, mental, social as well as spiritual well-being of an individual. That's why Dra. Marites T. Andres often visits our school to conduct monitoring activities on the WinS of the school and the implementation of the School-Based Feeding Program for Kindergarten.
