CULUNG ES' CULTURE OF EXCELLENCE IN THE SERVICE....AS WE CONFORM, PERFORM, AND TRANSFORM!
Being in a far – flung barangay, the advent of Culung Elementary School was given realization when some couples flocked and eventually settle in the place rearing more children. At first, children who were studying had to go nearby schools – Naruangan Central Elementary School and Taribubu Elementary School which were then established as center of education. The distance has obstructed the children to continue the aim for higher education. This condition has encourage the folks to plan and propose for a building where children could study conducively to be funded by the Local Government. In 1969, the first building was erected; Mrs. Emelia Tala Sinutto and Mrs. Perpetua Buendia were the first teachers who devoted their time teaching the pupils. Since the new building cannot accommodate all pupils, the people built another building that is made up of cogon and bamboo while others study under the shade of the trees.
As year passed by, more children enrolled and some teachers were hired for their desire and love to serve the children. The school has attained its goal to be in primary level. Their dream of having a complete elementary school was fulfilled when there were already around 200 pupils and 6 teachers. That time, the school was already ran by a Teacher In-Charge (TIC) who was not from the place. Mrs. Estrella M. Sabado, the newly assigned TIC had led and guided her co – teachers in their aim of promoting quality education.
Starting 1998, new buildings are being constructed to conform with the approved school site development plan. As of now, the school has 9 academic classrooms, 2 non – academic classrooms being utilized as the office of the school principal and the other as stock room. The school has 14 teachers occupying different teaching positions ranging from teacher I to master teacher I (please see data on school personnel) and the school principal. The school too has a functional Parent – Teachers – Community Association in which most of the improvements and projects undertaken in the school are duly supported by its officers and members. In like manner, the barangay officials and other members of the community are constantly supportive to all projects, programs and improvements of the school.
