Basi Elementary School started its formal operation in 1942 with four teachers assigned to teach Grade I-IV. It was first headed by a teacher-in-charge by the name of Mrs.Eufemia U. Lingan, a Grade IV adviser. It was in 1962, when the first principal was assigned to handle the school by Mrs. Christina C. Pagulayan. The school grew into a complete elementary school and had its first graduates in 1962.
In the mid of 1970’s, the school was awarded 5th place in the search conducted by the National Committee on Green Brigade Program-National Level.
It was also noted that the school was a pilot center on the Program on Decentralized Education (PRODED) by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports, Central Office in 1981-1982. Teachers had undergone series of trainings in the Development Academy of the Philippines in Baguio City.
As a whole, the school works for the holistic development of the children. The learners are given the proper training and education to become assets of the Philippine society.
Today, Basi Elementary School had undergone different stages of development and had metamorphosed to be one of the performing schools in the municipality. It had opened its SPED program for the Fast Learners in Grade III, in 2009 with 30 pupils as the pioneer class and now its ninth year. In its 69 years of experience, the school has already made a name in the history of Basi. The school continues to progress with the concerted effort of the community, school head, teachers and parents.
