"The school of life long learners and globally competitive Iguigeños"
Garab Elementary School of Iguig District was created sometime in 1948, to extend the benefits of basic education to the residents of Garab. The school catered Grade 1 and 2 pupils with a lone teacher named Mrs. Josefina Rey. In December 1956, the school was forced to stop its operation due to the absence of the school building because the only temporary building made of light materials then was destroyed by a strong typhoon.
After a long period of time, the people realized the importance of a school in the community. They sent a formal request to the Department of Education through the Public Schools District Supervisor Mrs. Felipa Gamiao for the re-opening of the school.
The Barangay Officials and parents built a temporary building to be used by the pupils for the opening of classes. Garab Primary School was re-opened in June 5, 1996 with twenty-eight (28) Grade 1 and 2 pupils with one (1) nationally funded teacher. After two (2) years of re-opening, the school was lucky enough to receive one (1) permanent classroom funded by Congressman Manuel N. Mamba
On the ninth (9th) year of operation, the school opened two (2)grade levels Grade 3 and 4 with an enrolment of 36 pupils handled by an LGU teacher.
In 2006, the school opened Grade 5 and 6 and was given a nationally funded teacher. Right after the approval, Mrs. Jecelyn M. Deleon who the school head applied for the conversion of Garab Primary School to Garab Elementary School.
With the conversion, the school was lucky enough because kind hearted individuals ( Saint Paul Hospital and Congressman Randolph Sera Ting ) donated two units in one (1) classroom buildings for Grade 3 and 4 and Grade 5 and 6 classes.
At present the school is headed by an Elementary School Principal I with 5 nationally funded teachers.
Garab elementary School operates successfully and continuously improving in providing equitable and quality basic education to the learners.
