San Jose Elementary School is participating in the different activities in the system. The school is very supportive and very strictly implementing the various program of the department, such as SIGA, Ecological Solid Waste Management and others. The school is environmentally conscious. Through the effort of the teachers, pupils and parents, they were able to make a mini-forest or reforestation area. The area is planted with trees making the environment not only cool and fresh but also provides the school its lumber needs.

               In previous years the school joined in the “Search for Model School” in implementing ecological solid waste management sponsored by the municipality of Gonzaga. Luckily, among the schools in the municipality, San Jose Elementary School garnered 1st place in the Elementary category. On July 2011, SJES was awarded third place in the “Search for Best in Solid Waste Segregation”, Elementary Level.
