HISTORY OF CUMAO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
History is simply the version of past events that people have decided to agree on.
It was June 1937 when Cumao Elementary School was opened through the initiative of the late Felipe G. Bumanglag as Kapitan del Barrio. It began with only twenty (20) pupils and one (1) teacher in the person of the late Mrs. Maria Lara Collado of Lasam, Cagayan. In 1941, Cumao Primary School was completed with four (4) teachers and one of them was the late Simeona F. Ong. On December 8, 1941, World War II broke out and the school building was bombed and burned. However, liberation came in 1945, classes resumed but it was temporarily held in the house of Don Victorino Belleza. After three (3) years, a school building was put up again where the school is presently located. The combination of Grades I and II classes was handled by Mrs. Simeona F. Ong and Grades III and IV classes by Mr. Severino Bumanglag. Sometime in 1970, Cumao Primary was transferred to its new site with four (4) grades and four (4) teachers.
In 2004, Cumao Primary School was converted into a complete elementary school with 7 teachers and headed by a Teacher In-Charge Mrs. Conchita P. Dumadag. In 2008, Mr. Romualdo S. Manuel was installed as the first Principal of the school. In 2011, Mrs. Charito G. Fuggan took place as the Principal. In 2013, Mr. Romualdo S. Manuel, came back as Principal.
In January 2020, Marvelyn N. Colobong, Ph.D. came as Principal II. She is the present School Head of the school.
