School-Based Management (SBM) was identified as one of the KEY Reform Thrusts (KRTs) envisioned to effect improvements at the school level. Growing appreciation for SBM as the vehicle to institute reforms at the ground level is evidenced by the increase in number of schools with SIP. In a nutshell, it is along these views that SBM as a reform thrust has been revised and broadened to better highlight the learners as the center of SBM practice and to further promote shared governance between the school and community.
Maddarulug Norte Elementary School was one of the schools validated virtually on SBM level of practice. The Teaching Staff had a very short time to prepare because the school was not in the list to be validated. With the assistance of the Public Schools District Supervisor, it was luckily subjected for validation. This SBM assessment was conducted to determine the depth of the SBM practice at MNES.
MNES was the only barangay school in Enrile which was subjected for validation. This made us, MNES teachers proud. Our efforts paid off. We are now waiting for the final and onsite validation of our SBM level of practice.
Indeed, SBM is a way of life. Everything we do in school is SBM. Being mindful of how things are done in school, SBM becomes light. People get involved and share responsibilities. It’s not only the school head and teachers working but everybody including the stakeholders. Involvement of stakeholders is needed for the realization of the school vision, mission and objectives guided by its core values, Makatao, Makabayan and Maka-Diyos.
