HISTORY OF PATA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Lying on the Eastern part of the town of Claveria is Pata. At first, Pata was single barangay but since the area is too wide and over populated, it was then divided into two barangays Pata East and Pata West.
The school was founded during the 1930’s and it was at first, a community school with only four rooms from grade I to IV. The pupils who enrolled grade V and VI was sent to Namuac Sanchez Mira, Cagayan the neighboring barangay of Pata that had complete elementary school at that time.
The school was first headed by Mr. Anselmo Tangonan, followed by Mr. Guillermo and Mr. Agcaoili who were all teachers-in-charge. After the World War II, the people from different places flocked to Pata until they finally made it as complete elementary school. Mr. Nemecio Fonacier, the first Head Teacher of the school made some improvements to the school. He rendered services to school and community for many years.
During the time of Mr. Bienvenido Segundo, as Claveria District Supervisor, Mrs. Mercedes V. Paclob was next head teacher of the school. A great improvement was seen in the school. Mrs. Mercedes Paclob gave her full service to the school until she migrated to Hawaii.
Mrs. Rosita G. Taruc, was the next head teacher of Pata Elementary School. During her time concrete fences were almost finished to enclose the two-hectare area of the school. Old buildings were renovated, every room had already build-in comfort room, pump well and electricity. She also initiated the construction of the mini-gym.
In 1998, Pata Elementary School garnered second place during the inter-schools evaluation of Claveria. There were also projects being implemented by the principal and teaching staff, these are as follow: beauty spot at the western part of the school, baluster in front of each room and around the flagpole, concrete flower boxes, concrete directory and welcome post. These were all made possible through the initiative of Mrs. Rosita G. Taruc.
The successor of Mrs. Rosita G. Taruc was Mrs. Jovy Grace S. Crisostomo, Ph.D. With her stay in the school, she rose from the rank from Teacher In-Charge in SY 2001-2002 and Head Teacher 3 in SY 2002-2005, then promoted to Principal 1 in SY 2005-2008 and Principal 2 in 2008-2011.
Through her leadership, various accomplishments were realized in academics as well as in physical development in school. To mention few, the school rank 1 entire the District in NAT 6 during SY 2009-2010. Pata Elementary School made its name in academic contests and co-curricular contests. Various projects were also realized such as putting up of flower boxes, storage room, initiated the renovation of the old Home Economics Building, tiling of the school office, maintenance and repair of school building and other structures and facilities.
Mr. Framel Clemar G. De Peralta, Ph. D. Principal 1 assumed his office as the new school head for SY 2011-2013. He pioneered and initiated the construction of Phase 1 of the School Gymnasium (Dream Gym). He had also lots of accomplishments such as the construction of 5 concrete garden sets in front of the classrooms. With the big area of the school, he put up an IGP (Income Generating Program) of the school which was the planting of cassava plant and others that benefited the school and community.
To man Pata Elementary School after Mr. Framel Clemar G. de Peralta, Ph.D. was Mrs. Concordia A. Lombo. She stayed only for a quit time. Mrs. Concordia A. Lombo continued the phase 2 of the school gymnasium. In her stay, Pata Elementary School made in the limelight and made history. The first ever Regional Qualifier in Sports Writing was produced in the name of Michael Angelo Buenaagua with Mrs. Alma P. Burgos as the coach.
With the transfer of Mrs. Concordia A. Lombo to another school, Mr. Framel Clemar G. De Peralta, Ph. D. returned to Pata Elementary School for SY 2014-2017. His coming back is a big deal for him because he wanted to finished the Dream Gym he initiated. Through the unending support of stakeholders, the different school Clubs of pupils and teaching staff many accomplishments were realized. He completed the perimeter of the school which is a requirement in the EBEIS and SBM. The construction of plant boxes in the Gulayan sa Paaralan became more attractive. Construction of the first wash area on the eastern part of the school sponsored by the SPG officers in SY 2015-2016 with Mrs. Agnes D. Bulosan as the adviser was realized. Other school projects were the following: provided electric water system, purchased new set of sound system, tiling the new Principal’s office, constructed pavement from main gate going to Building 1- BLSB Type 2, constructed the new site of the flagpole, and improvement of other school infrastructure.
During the time of Mr. Framel Clemar G. De Peralta, Ph.D. as school head many golden awards in academic and co-curricular was garnered.
Mr. Joseph R. Tumaneng, Principal 2 became the new Principal of Pata Elementary School since January 2018 to October 2019. He initiated the total makeover of the school that made more conducive to learning and pleasing to the eyes such as landscaping, repainting of school structures and the like.
During his administration, many infrastructure projects were accomplished through the help of stakeholders, pupils and teachers. The following were the tangible accomplishment: constructed the marker of I PATA ES, new Directory, tiling and improvement of the flagpole, rehabilitation of plant boxes, renovation and improvement of the school Pergola, completion of benches in the School Gymnasium, construction and improvement of wash area and the like. He also initiated the Search of Best Eco Park in the school wherein each grade level was given an area to beautify and maintain using indigenous and recyclable materials. Before he was transferred a new Multi-Purpose Building was constructed. This building served as the new Principal’s Office.
Since October 2019 up to present Mrs. Elisa P. Castillejos is the new Principal 1. Projects were implemented by the principal with the help of the teaching staff and stake holders. She initiated a Tunnel Garden that made the school garden (Gulayan sa Paaralan) more productive and beneficial especially in the School Feeding Program and continued improvements in various physical facilities.
Amidst the COVID 19 Pandemic Mr. Charlie R. Bautista, as a parent extended his effort to ask donations from stakeholders. The school received 6 printers and other supplies being used during the modular learning. The teachers were provided 1:1 printer which greatly help them in the production and printing of learning modules.
At present Mrs. Elisa P. Castillejos is working on the conversion of Pata Elementary School to Pata Integrated School under the leadership of the very able Public Schools District Supervisor Mr. Ralph L. Bona, Ph.D.
