Initiating and participating in social activities relating to environment will provide a training ground for the learners to develop their skills and knowledge in fostering environmental stewardship.
The PES YES-O wanted to make a difference towards the society to promote environmental protection, preservation and restoration of Mother Nature and become good stewards of God’s creation.
Trees are essential to our world and offer a wide range of benefits to our environment. Most of us recognize the beauty of trees and their many other values. They help protect our waterways by intercepting storm water, stabilizing soil and using nutrients that would otherwise wash into waterways. Trees increase our quality of life by bringing natural elements and wildlife habitats into urban settings. Environmental benefits such as clean air and water. Trees help moderate temperature and muffle noise. They even help improve air quality by absorbing some airborne compounds that could be harmful to us, and by giving off oxygen. Spending time around trees and in nature also makes us healthier and even improves our learners’ academic performances.
In the efforts to preserve, conserve and protect Mother Nature, and especially the Earth, the PES YES-O Club came up with the idea of conducting a tree planting activity with the theme ‘’Plant today, Save tomorrow!’’. Tree planting is the most effective and relevant way to do it. With tree planting, even a small effort makes a huge difference in leaving an on-going environmental legacy in life. As a result of participating in this activity, theleaders and club members can achieve a sense of satisfaction andaccomplishment, knowing that they can made a positive difference. In addition, the activity enables
Great team interaction among the leaders and members while having fun and giving back to the environment.
This tree planting program is a learning opportunity to get learners involved in the environment and conservation of our natural resources. Recent scientific studies suggest students are better able to concentrate, complete tasks, and follow directions after playing in natural settings.
These School Tree Planting projects connect learners to the benefits of trees and foster environmental stewardship. Tree planting is a great way to increase learner interest in their local environment and achieve academic goals. Each school tree planting provides educators with the opportunity to inspire school administrators, faculty and learners to affect positive change at their schools and, in turn, their communities.
When learners plant trees, they can see for themselves the structure of trees, learn what they need and how they grow. Teachers can use the planting process to discuss the benefits trees provide, while including many subjects that their classes are studying. As trees mature, the trees can be a continuing, personalized way of relating what they've learned in books to visible, living examples.
Learners become aware that they can play a role in protecting the environment through personal involvement. Ultimately, it is hoped that the experience will help them make intelligent decisions about conservation and use of our valuable natural resources.
Going Green Project with the theme ‘’Plant today, Save tomorrow!’’ among learners leaders and club member of the school. This activity is an environmental education project. By doing this activity the learners leaders and club members will discover awareness on the important of tree planting, and establish a connection to nature and while learning what they can contribute to save the future. Like trees freshly planted, their work will pay forward the investment for years to come. Furthermore, this activity raises the value of friendship, unity and cooperation. Finally, this tree planting activity is also our way of addressing disaster risk reduction and mitigating the effects climate change.
Factories don’t make oxygen, tress do..Respect nature.
