Bunugan Elementary School is an educational institution that caters to the educational needs of the inhabitants particularly the young. As mandated in the 1987 Constitution that education is compulsory to primary and secondary, thus Bunugan Elementary School was established.
History tells that Bunugan Elementary School took its humble beginning in the early 1970’s where only primary classes were established with a single building. This building was named PTA because it was constructed through the initiative of the parents and the community as well.
The land where the classrooms were constructed was donated by a certain concern citizen in the name of Maximo Javier as appeared in the Mother title. The school lot was surveyed by a certain Engineer Hernando C. Sorita as appeared in the sketch plan with lot number 1501-492-D.There was no concrete evidence showing proof of donation because during those early times words of mouth are enough because of high trust and respect to one another. Hence a photocopy of the original title was handled on to the school authorities.
The institution started simply. A single PTA building was constructed where only primary pupils were catered. Later some other buildings were constructed because of the increasing number of pupils. A DPWH initiated building was erected just near the old PTA building. In 1998, higher grades were opened making the school an elementary institution. Hence the increasing number of pupils was so abrupt that the demand of building for classroom instructions was needed. There were then some buildings erected to house these pupils for better classroom instructions.
At present, Bunugan Elementary School has seven teachers and the supervision of an Elementary School Principal I. It has seven classes with one hundred ninety - five pupils.
