HISTORY OF BITAG GRANDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
The interest, willingness and love of educators to extend their services and to put-up center of formal education and the dream and desire of Bitag Grande folks way back 1949 to have a school in their locality met and came into reality because Mr. Jose Aggarao was sent to this barangay to teach beginning learners. Bitag Grande Primary School was started, SY 1949-1950. Since there was no structure/building that was built then for them to use or occupy, the class that was organized by Mr. Jose Aggarao as the teacher and at the same time the Offcer In-Charge was temporarily housed at the residence of Mr. Enciong Udani until a structure made out of bamboo and cogon was built at the top of the hill part of the school premise now that was then an open land “Tanap” and full of guava trees.
After a year, the number of enrollees increased. The single class with a combination of Grades 1 and 2 pupils became two classes, one Grade 1 class and one combination of Grades II and III class. Mr. Antonio Pacleb took the place of Mr. Aggarao. Mr. Antonio Pacleb was then the Officer In-Charge from SY1950-51 to SY1951-52 and Mrs. Marcelina Quinta was his colleague who taught the other class. An extension to the structure that was built was made for the new class to use.
In the year 1952, Mr. Antonio Pacleb was transferred to another school, Mr. Troadio Salvador came in to take his place. He became the Head Teacher of this school, the Bitag Grande Primary School from 1952- 1955. Additional PTA classroom building was built because of the increased of enrollment. After the SY1954-1955, Ms. Altagracia Miguel became the Head Teacher for the SY1955-1956. This was due to the promotion of the latter.
At the start of the SY1956-1957, the Bitag Grande Primary School became a complete elementary school. The Bitag Grande Elementary School was then managed by Mr. Zinampan and was then the School Head for the SY1956-57 up to SY1968-69 with his four colleagues and these were the following; Mr. Baradi, Mrs. Fe Saginsing, Mrs. Erlinda Calabazaron and Mrs. Josefa Tumaneng.
Mrs. Lourdes Irorita was the next School Head of Bitag Grande Elementary School from the SY1969-70 to SY1979-80. Mrs. Lourdes Irorita had the longest administration in this school so far. Mr. Remigio Marcos came in to take charge of the school. He was then the school head of this school from the SY2003-04 to SY2005-06.
The Bitag Grande Elementary School did not stop on excelling both in academic and extra-curricular activities. The door was really opened for her towards a higher stair. Mrs Ana Luisa Sabugal came in to take her place. She was then the School Head of Bitag Grande Elementary School from the SY20210-11 to SY 2013-14. This lady administrator considers both instructional leadership and learning environment very vital in the learners’ development and the attainment of desired learning outcomes. Leones is now the present Officer In-Charge and at the same time the Master Teacher and Grade III adviser of Bitag Grande Elementary School effective July 8, 2020 up to the present. This school year is full of uncertainties because of the pandemic brought out by this COVID19. Enrollment had to be advertised through social media to attract learners to enroll despite of the situation this school year is facing. Survey was made to ask parents on what modality they would prefer to be used in delivering education to their children. Teachers had to struggle in order to meet the performance standards and desired learning outcomes. Teachers are really devoted and committed to works as teachers. Despite of this present situation they never give up of extending their services to their learners. They never fail to perform what is expected of them. Teachers prove that winners are not those who never fail but winners are those who never quit.
