It was March 2020 when Covid-19 brought a drastic change in every lives of the Filipinos. Economic sector has totally closed, Job applications were cancelled, government projects were delayed and even the Department of Education felt the change in the delivery of instruction. Hence, Bulala Norte Elementary School remained committed to its mission by serving and providing quality instruction to its learners.
As the school year changed, many academic activities were not implemented considering the IATF safety health protocols especially the Province of Cagayan was placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine. Along with these unprecedented events are alternatives made by the different sectors in the country especially the teachers being in the frontline of the academic sector.
On Making PPEs and Fabric Face Masks…..
Through its stakeholders, the Bulala Norte Elementary School has produced hundreds of Personal Protective Equipment and Face Masks to be used by the medical front liners and the Barangay Officials of Brgy. Bulala Norte.
On Gulayan Sa Paaralan Project….
Amid the on-going pandemic, Bulala Norte Elementary School carries on with their health and nutrition through their ‘Gulayan sa paaralan’ project.
The Project aims to strengthen the integration of environmental education in the school as it was participated by the teachers, parents and PTA officers. Meanwhile, with the on-going health crisis, it is just but fitting to plant variety of vegetable seeds in available spaces in school as per teacher were given an assigned area to improve. As of April 17, 2021, a total of ten kilograms of veggie seed were already planted.
A Grateful Heart…..
In a recent Brigada Eskwela initiative, teachers of Bulala Norte Elemetary School received donations in the production of self-learning modules (SLMs) and materials for school improvement.
The school received materials for school fence construction amounting to 15, 000 php courtesy of Engr. Gerald B. Arellano and Mrs. Jemalyn S. Oloraza.
Twelve boxes of bond paper and ten bottles printer ink were also given by the Bulala Norte Barangay. Officials through Brgy. Captain Leordlyn S. Asuncion.
More so, an amount of 9,000 php were also given by Mrs. Jemalyn S. Oloraza for the purchase of one-unit printer.
To make sure that they have the needed materials before the school year starts, some teachers have come together to produce the modules on their own – even it had to somehow come out of their own pockets.
On Teachers’ Training Activities…..
With the surge of Covid-19 positive cases in the country, the Department of Education continuously provide a wide array of training workshops among public school teachers to meet the demands of the learners in this trying times, Feb 8-13.
Considering the importance of annual teachers’ training and prioritization of teachers’ health and safety, the Aparri West District launched District Virtual INSET via Google meet. The erratic internet service in the country challenged teachers, however the six-day journey of the Virtual INSET marked a major success.
Indeed, INSET is the perfect avenue for re-skilling and upskilling of teachers in the new normal in education. It equipped teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills on how to overcome challenges.
The undying support of education leaders created a long-term impact of Virtual INSET proves that no global crisis can stop education from improving and prospering the education sector.
On Tree Planting Activity…..
The Philippine National Police together with the Bulala Norte Elementary School had a joint tree planting activity in connection to Project Makakalikasan movement on May 2, 2021. The PNP Lingkod Bayanihan conducted a Coconut and Anahaw planting activity which fully supports I Love Cagayan River Movement which aims in finding a greener place for the next generation.
There is no doubt that engaging in tree planting activities strengthens the communities. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, participants to our tree planting activities were reduced to observe social distancing and health protocols. Thus, this activity will help us attain a sustainable future.
Tree Planting activities are among the top priority programs of the PNP and the Bulala Norte Elementary School.
New Normal is very far different way of learning in this time of pandemic. Teachers patience has been tested. Sacrifices were made for school and their families. But because of their undying love for public service, their dedication has always come to realization. Indeed, no amount of love can best suffice teachers’ sacrifices.
