Calintaan ES – Amid the on going pandemic, Calintaan carries on with their health and nutrition as well as environmental preservation through their Gulayan sa Tahanan program.
Now, Cordova National High School has add-on and start-up provisions to do such initiative, as they had received their requested assorted vegetable seeds from the Department of Agriculture on May 2021.
Dr. Jayson Lacbayan, School Principal II of Cordova National High School, turn-over the seeds that comprise 30 packets per feeder school. These seeds are eggplant, tomato, pechay, okra, ampalaya, squash, and pole sitao. The garden inputs were received by EPP/TLE Coodinators on June 01, 2021.
Ethel B. Jose, School EPP Coordinator said, “Through this program, we basically teach our children on how to live. While they are temporarily learning from their homes, they can be more productive and responsible by planting vegetables. In a few months, they appreciate the value or essence of this program”.
Gulayan sa Tahanan aims to strengthen the integration of environmental education in the school as well as in the community. In this program, we will sustain enviromental consciousness and action among learners while instilling them the values of being independent, teamwork, responsible and volunteerism.
With the ongoing health crisis, the parents and learners are eyed to plant vegetable seeds in available space /lot in their backyard.
Our main goal is on how to abundantly grow vegetables and these will be used as food supplement.
July 12-16, 2021 is the first monitoring of GULAYAN SA TAHANAN headed by CHNS Principal Jayson Lacbayan, Caratacat E/S Principal Charisa A. Paguila, Barangay Officials and LGU.
