One of the most recent public health emergencies of global concern is the recent COVID-19 pandemic. The fight against the threats to COVID-19 pandemic suffered profound effects and impacts on almost all sectors in the human race. These have resulted in the widespread disruption such as travel restrictions, global economic recession and misinformation and controversies, to name a few. One of the most affected is the educational sectors. Consequently, we need to live to the new normal.
In response to these situations, educational leaders decided to adopt the new normal in education. The Department of Education implemented the Learning Continuity Plan (LCP) which effect School Year 2020-2021. Responses like community lockdown and community quarantine elsewhere have led Filipino learners and teachers to study at home, Work from Home (WFH), and Alternative Work Arrangement (AWA). However, learning should not halt. The DepED introduced various solutions during the pandemic to continue the education process- the introduction of distance learning. Numerous innovative programs have been introduced like the revision of the curricula, development of instructional materials, project proposals and many more.
Bulo Elementary School implemented the following activities with the following objectives:
a. To appreciate the significance of the implementation of the distance learning, allowing learners to utilize self-learning modules (SLMs).
b. To make learning engaging to learners amidst pandemic.
c. To keep abreast of teachers a. teachers in the new trends and innovative programs of the new normal education.
In the School Year 2020-2021, several activities/events were successfully
accomplished with the active involvement of the School Head, teachers, pupils, parents and stakeholders such as accomplishing the Learner Enrollment Survey Forn (LESF), Making school Community Program, Submitting the weekly accomplishment report, Downloading/Printing/Sorting/Distribution/Retrieving/Checking and Recording of MELC Based Modules for Kinder to Grade-6,digital monitoring of pupils, updating pupils academic performance quarterly, attending webinars, creating/activating and deploying of 0365 account for the learners and building school pantry.
The activities were successfully conducted in coordination and through the collaborative efforts of all the persons involved to meet the challenges of the new normal of education and to keep the learners connected to learning and focus on equipping them with the right skills to navigate today’s world and the recovery of tomorrow’s.
