History of Tupang Elementary School
Tupang Elementary School (TES) is situated in the eastern part of Zone 3 along Maharlika highway of Barangay Tupang, Alcala, Cagayan, Alcala East District bearing a School I.D. of 102378.
Tupang Elementary School was donated by two individual persons. It has a total land area of 9,393 sq.m. One part was already transferred in the name of the school. The other one is on-going process.
It has a relative distance from the población and the District Office of 1.5 km. and to the Division Office of 51 kms.
Since it is along the Maharlika highway, the means of transportation is accessible. Residents reaches the town proper, neighboring barangay and nearby towns through motorcycle, tricycles, vans and buses.
Buildings in the school were erected in 1967 with 3 academic classrooms. on the same year, formal education started with 25 pupils under Mr. Glicerio Orpilla, the pioneer teacher. As the school population increases, the number of teachers also increased. Finally, in 1976, the Grade VI class was opened with 25 pupils and became the first batch graduates of Tupang Elementary School.
At present it has 3 buildings of 3 classroom each. The Marcos type building composed of Office, Grade 3 and Grade 6 classrooms, BLSB Type I where Grade 1 and 2 classrooms situated and BLSB Type II for Grade 3,4, and 5 classrooms. The PTA Funded building are not complaint to standards are used for Kindergarten class and School Canteen. The 9 classrooms are fully ventilated and lighted, some classrooms need repair on its roofing, ceiling, walls and windows.
The school has five PTA Funded Reading Centers. Its main source of water system is afunctional local/ pipe water system and 2 pump wells. It has no functional library/ SLRC building, and agricultural/ Industrial building where pupils study and perform laboratory work activity. The mini-gymnasium needs repair due to termite infected and wear and tear. It has 3 Comfort Rooms outside , 2 are functional and the other one is not. As of now we lack Computer room and rooms for other classes, SLRC and Home Economics Building.
As of now, Tupang Elementary School has 10 teaching staff, 9 teachers and 1 school head with 228 enrolment. Enrolment rate decreases due to transfer of residents of some of our learners.
