The present and official name of the barrio is Baculod. Its popular name was derived from the meaning of the word “Baculod” which means hilly place. It was established in the year 1886. This place is about two kilometers from the población in the Eastern part of the town Alcala.
After long years when nobody could think of coming to live in this part which is hilly and covered with forest, there came two men from the town of Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte seeking for a wide and better place to live in. They were Sabas Capili and Pedro Salud. They were worked hard, they cleared the area and planted corn, bananas, and vegetbles on this spot. After having a good harvest, they went to get their families in Pasuquin to settle permanently in this place.

Most parts of this Barrio were forest with timbers which were cut by the people as their contribution to the building up of the big church, residencia, and few houses in the población.
Formerly, there was no school here not until September 15, 1941 when public school extension class was established but when the Japanese occupied Alcala on December, 1941 all classes were closed.
In those times the barrion trail was built. There were not much destruction done during the World War II in this barrio. Only few houses found alond te road and and few lots and trees were burned not as in other places that were totally turned to ashes.
But beginning in the year 1945, it has progressed little by little. Now there are new big houses, school and reading center. The pump was repaired. The people were working very hard for a better life situation.
