A. GEOGRAPHY
Location of the School
Guiddam Elementary School is located at Barangay Guiddam, Abulug, Cagayan. It lies along the southern part of the municipality of Abulug. It is bounded on the North by Abulug River, East by Nararagan, Ballesteros, Cagayan, West by the National Road and South by Barangay Cagayan. It is 20 kilometers away from the Abulug Municipal hall. It is 200 kilometers away from the Schools Division office.
B. LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
The school at present has enough classrooms for all grades level. However, there are no available ancilliary rooms for the canteen, Home Economics, Industrial Arts and others. Likewise, these classrooms need minor and major repairs on windows, ceilings, roofings and doors.
While it is true that there is 1:1 learner seat ratio, the school needs additional seats because every now and then some seats are being destroyed. Some of these destroyed seats are repaired but still some are totally damaged.
Water supply is a big problem in the school. The school has only a pressurized tank water system but not safe to drink. That’s why the school needs functional and potable source of water supply. There is available established hand washing facilities in the school connected to the water system.
The toilets in the school were built-in in all classrooms. They are built-in CR’s which are used by boys and girls per grade level. It is a shared CR. There are no available bowls/urinals exclusive for boys and girls.
With regards to learner textbook ratio, there are shortages in most of the grade levels in all the learning areas. The school has no library.
Other learning facilities in the school includes the downloaded DepEd Computerization Program (DCP) with 7 desk top computers, 1 laptop and 2 screen projectors. Televisions and VCD players available per grade level were initiatives of the advisers through HPTA projects.
The school has a supply of electricity. There are also internet service providers available in the locality. However, the school did not subscribe yet because of unavailability of funds. Instead, teachers use the pre-paid wi-fi gadgets.
There are eleven (11) classroom teachers in the school. Ten (10) of them are female and one (1) male, all are nationally funded. The school is headed by a principal.
For the current school year, it was very evident that the school has a low percentage of wasted pupils. There are no records of child abuse in the school or any sort of violence against children. However, the teachers keep on discussing the DEPED order on the Child Protection Policy to remind everyone on their roles as parents, teachers and pupils.
C. SITUATION OF CHILDREN/ LEARNERS: ACCESS IN AND OUT OF
SCHOOL
It was noted in the survey that all pupils who are qualified to go to school are in school. Financial matters, disability, health and nutrition and others are not factors or reason for them not to go to school. However, there are some over-aged pupils enrolled in the school.
D. SITUATION OF CHILDREN/LEARNERS: ACCESS – ATTENDANCE
AND RETENTION
There is no problem on the percentage of attendance of pupils in the school . The school has 100% attendance of pupils. However, there is a little percentage of drop-out pupils
E. SITUATION CHILDREN/LEARNERS: QUALITY
Promotion and graduation rate of the school for the past three (3) years is 100%. With regards to the literacy level of pupils it is also 75% above the level. There were some recognized awards of some pupils in the district up to the division level
