SUDDEN SHIFT IN EDUCATION

The COVID-19 has resulted in schools to shut across the world. As a result, education has changed dramatically, with the distinctive rise of e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms. With the sudden shift away from the classroom, some are wondering how would learning be ever possible. In response to a significant demand, the Department of Education have come to an idea on implementing the so-called Project WEBS (Website for Educational-Institutions in the Basic-Education System)

Through the initiative of Sir Andrew Taaca, the Division ICTO of SDO Cagayan with the approval of our ever supportive Schools Division Superintendent Sir Orlando E. Manuel, PhD, CESO V, this Project WEBS has been made possible to provide ways for people to communicate on a global scale and assess vast amounts of information. The Project WEBS provide educators with opportunities to implement a range of new teaching and learning practices which redefine classroom. Project WEBS has many positive effects on education. It overcomes time and space limitations in traditional schools. Also, learning via the web enables both synchronous and asynchronous communication. KUDOS to all Project WEBS TWG!

One of the most promising ways the Internet is being utilized in schools is to have students participate in global collaborative Internet projects. The Web Project Learning is defined as a problem-oriented within the framework of a small group. In teaching, the Web fits very well with the Project-Based Learning Model. The Web can be an organizer, research tool, a ready source data, a means of people to communicate for each other.

In conclusion, The Web Project Learning can motivate both pupils and teachers as it provides an appealing way for pupils to gain and be engaged in classroom activities.

THE BATTLE

The COVID-19 pandemic is widely-known and it is identified as the major cause of death of many individuals worldwide.

Since the occurrence of this pandemic, many aspects of our lives have changed abruptly. Peoples’ lifestyles have shifted into the “new normal”. You can’t go out without wearing a face mask, you cannot enter any office, institution or industry without applying alcohol into your hands and without checking your body temperature. So far from the usual way but people have no choice but to adopt to it.

Many were infected, many have recovered but the sad part is many did not make it.

In the early part of May, the former District Supervisor of Abulug and present Dean of Florencio L. Vargas College, Ms. Pelagia P. Altre, was diagnosed with pneumonia. She had her medication at home but her situation has worsen and led to severe pneumonia which made her to be brought in the hospital.

Her family were all in fear because at the back of their minds , they are expecting that the doctors would come out with the diagnosis that she is a COVID-19 positive.

Suspicions turned out to be true because the test have proven it so.

May 15 was a tragic day because she finally gave up her battle.
