Talang Central School was established long before the World War II with only three (3) classrooms made of bamboos and coconut shingles. At that time, there were only six (6) teachers in the said school.
In 1962, the school became a Central School with a number of teachers that rose to thirty- four (34) due to the increasing number of pupils from nearby barangays such as Talang, Tayambani, Maliwara, Buenglat, Balococ, Isla, Aponit, Gamata and as far as Salinap. In the same year, an Administration Building was constructed.
In 1965, the construction of the PTA, Science, HE and a two-storey building followed. Two years later, the Barangay Lipunan and Pre-Fab buildings were built.
However, after several years, the pupils going to this school decreased in number because of the construction and opening of the schools in nearby communities like Isla, Aponit, Gamata, Balaya and Balococ.
In 1992, a Ramos type Building was built under the administration of Mr. Nicanor Sanchez and it served as the school’s Clinic and Guidance Center.
Don Vicente G. Tulagan, Sr. Multi-Purpose Center was also constructed in the school under a joint project of former Congressman Generoso DC. Tulagan, Jr. and the late Mayor Julian V. Resuello. The gymnasium was purposely built for the educational, recreational and social needs of pupils, teachers and the people in the entire district especially Barangay Talang and its neighboring barangays. It also serves as an evacuation center in times of emergency.
In 2002, the school was included in the list of top ten schools in San Carlos City Division for having an excellent academic performance.
In 2004, two (2) classrooms were repaired and rehabilitated under the administration of Mrs. Priscilla S. Victorio. Construction of office partition and office comfort room was undertaken. Likewise, cemented pathways and flower boxes were constructed to beautify the school compound. Tree planting activity was also done in support of the “Clean and Green Program” of the government.
At present, Talang Central School has four (4) catchment areas namely: Barangay Talang, Buenglat, Tayambani and Maliwara. The school is under the administration of Dr. Wilson C. Dela Cruz and the Schools District Supervisor, Benjamin M. Resngit, Jr.
It has four (4) classes in Kindergarten, three (3) sections in Grade I, three (3) sections in Grade II, two (2) sections in Grade III, three (3) sections in Grade IV, three (3) sections in Grade V and two (2) sections in Grade VI with a total of 618. It also has a SPED class with an enrolment of 10.
The teaching force of Talang Central School is composed of two (2) Master Teachers, seventeen (17) Teacher III, two (2) Teacher II, one (1) SPED Teacher and one (1) Administrative Aide.
