Course Overview
Chem 170 provides a review of the basic stoichiometric calculations that are important to chemists, biochemists, and others who rely, in part, on chemical or biochemical measurements. Chem 170 is a prerequisite for Chem 240 (Structure and Function of Biomolecules) and Chem 260 (Thermodynamics, Equilibria, and Kinetics), and for most advanced courses in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The topics covered in Chem 170 are often required for admittance to graduate programs in many science disciplines and for professional programs in the health sciences.
