AN INTRODUCTION TO THE GT TEACHER & PROGRAM
For those unable to attend the virtual parent meetings
WHY does DGSN include intentional GT programming?
Because meeting GT student needs is part of our core value of EQUITY.
DGS serves every student in our community and creates learning conditions in which all students can achieve their highest potential. The DGS community demonstrates leadership in cultural proficiency in a system that supports diversity, including neurodiversity.
HOW does DGSN support GT students?
Daily Individualized Learning Time Monday-Thursday
ILTs group students by ability and interest
Teachers provide focused support of skills and/or enrichment needed by that group
ILTs are often project-based, allowing students to direct their own learning, with teacher supervision and support
GT students are required to share examples of their projects each year, encouraging them to hold themselves to high standards, and ensuring that their accomplishments do not go unseen.
