Hi! I’m Mr. Deaton, and I am the 6th grade literacy teacher here at DGS. I've been teaching middle school since 2020. I have a bachelor’s in Sociology and Anthropology and two Master’s degrees in English and Special Education. Teaching is my passion, and I am so excited to get to know your student.
Hello! I am returning to DGS to teach after attending as a student for 2nd through 8th grade! I completed my student teaching with Mrs. Wagner in 7th grade last year and am thrilled to be working with 6th this year! I had a wonderful experience at DGS as a student, and I strive to help students have as much fun as I did when I was a student here!
This is my first year teaching 5/6 Science, however this will my third year at DGS! I started at DGS as a 1:1 para, then transitioned into teaching last year. I am looking forward to this year and all that is in store.
Hi everyone! This is my second year here at DGS and I am so excited to be involved in this community. I will be working with 5th and 6th graders and I am really looking forward to this coming school year! I graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a degree in Special Education and an endorsement in Cultural and Linguistic Differences. I was born and raised in the Denver area and I can't picture myself living anywhere else. When I'm not at work I am usually skiing, hiking, camping, or spending time with my dog. I am really looking forward to being on this team and getting to know everyone this year! Please feel free to reach out with any questions or comments!
Supporting students as they acquire English is my passion and I'm so excited to do that with our emerging bilingual students in 6th grade! I’ve taught English in Japan, Mexico, and throughout Colorado. I speak Spanish and I know a little German and Japanese. I love learning languages and connecting with people from around the world, so DGS is a great place for me to be. When I'm not at work, I'm usually chasing around my daughter. She turned one last May and is a such a delight to be around. Watching her develop her language skills has been one of the most fascinating things for me as a parent. In the free time I have left, I enjoy gardening, snowboarding, yoga, and cooking delicious food. If you have any great recipes, please send them my way!
I was raised in Wisconsin by educators who valued multicultural experiences. After earning a Business degree from the University of Iowa and working in sales, I found my passion for teaching while volunteering in my daughter’s kindergarten class. That led me to earn a Master’s in Education. For the past 14 years, I’ve taught Multilingual Learners at Denver Green School, and I’m excited to continue inspiring students in my 15th year.
Hello! I am ecstatic to be a part of the DGS Community and facilitate relevant and engaging learning opportunities with our dragons. I love working with students in small groups to give them individualized instruction and support in math. It is an absolute joy to witness students increase their skills and confidence while developing a love of math.
I wanted to become a teacher when I was a young child, and I even dressed as one for Halloween when I was in third grade! I earned a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. It has been a dream come true to work with students over the last 25 years.
In my free time, I love to travel and explore different cultures, go hiking, and practice yoga. I have two daughters and a little dog that I love spending time with.
I’m looking forward to a great year!
Hi! This is my fourth year teaching reading at DGS. My goal is to help kids discover a passion for reading! I aim to help struggling reading develop the skills they need to be successful, so they can indulge in the content that they are excited about. For my lessons, I especially enjoy incorporating issues related to social justice, identity and social-emotional learning. I look forward to getting to know your students!
