Kindergarten to Grade 2: Foundations
Attributes: Students identify and compare measurable attributes like length (shorter/longer) and weight (heavier/lighter).
Non-Standard Measurement: Children use objects like paperclips or blocks to measure length.
Categorical Data: Students sort objects into categories (e.g., by shape or color) and represent this data using picture graphs and simple bar graphs.
Resources:
The first two bullets on the list does not need any special work sheets or websites. Just whenever an opportunity arises have your child compare something. It can be anything. They could compare the length of french fries, sticks or rocks they find outside or on a walk. You could use flowers, cookies, Legos, toys or amounts of food or candy. Things like offer them two cookies or plates of food they really like and ask which one has more. Any type of activity along those lines will work. For the third bullet, I there are resources to click on below. You can sort or gather everyday objects at home and graph them. You can gather objects outside to graph. This can be a fun activity for children.

Grades 3 to 5: Measurement and Continuous Data
Standard Measurement: Students transition to standard U.S. Customary units (inches, pounds) and Metric units (centimeters, grams).
Area and Volume: Instruction connects measurement to geometry by teaching students to calculate perimeter, area (using square units), and volume (multiplying length \(\times \) width \(\times \) height).
Measurement Data: Students measure objects using rulers marked with fractional parts (halves, fourths) and represent these measurements using line plots.
Resources: This area of math is badly needed to be worked on, so many students struggle with measuring. Activities with measuring can be as simple as finding objects for them to measure or if you are in for a building project, let your child do the measuring in both customary units and metric units. Area and perimeter can be taught in small little activities as well. Many students confuse these two concepts, because often they are taught in the same unit. If you are going to tackle these activities start with perimeter, then work on area. For perimeter think of a park that has a sidewalk on all four sides around the park. If you were to walk on the sidewalk all the way around, how far would you walk. Area would be how much space you have inside the sidewalk perimeter to play.
Measuring:
Paper airplane challenge, whose paper airplane can fly the farthest. Use a tape measure to see. Make a simple line graph for multiple throws. You could also do this activity with different sized balls or beanbags.
Have a scavenger hunt. Have your child find items that are a specific length or height. Example: Have them find something that is 3 ft tall. This can help them learn to estimate the height and/or length of objects that may be close to 3 ft, instead of having to measure everything in the room.

Grades 6 to 8: Statistics and Scale
Data Distributions: Students shift to statistical reasoning, learning to describe data using measures of center (mean, median) and variability (range, interquartile range).
Visualizing Variation: Data is represented using histograms, box plots, and dot plots to understand distribution.
Advanced Measurement: Students reason about relationships among 2D and 3D shapes to determine surface area and complex volume.
Resources: These type projects are a little more extensive, but not impossible to do at home using topics they are interested in.
