For. Catherine C. Balasa

Catherine C. Balasa is a professional forester and a graduate of West Visayas State University. She earned her Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 2000 from the International Academy and later completed her second Master’s Degree in 2017 as a scholar of DENR Region VI under the NCI Scholarship Program. She also served as Chief of the Technical Services Division of PENRO Negros Occidental.

With 39 years of dedicated service in the Department, she rose from the rank-and-file to become the OIC-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer of Negros Occidental. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated strong leadership in forestry management, environmental conservation, and community-based programs, while actively promoting sustainable development and empowering communities, particularly the youth, in environmental protection initiatives.
